i brought the new year for the first time on the back of monster. i was going good until the neighbors started lighting off fireworks. they were loud and spooked monster real bad. he reared up on me a couple of times. i didnt fall off but i landed on the back of my saddle and brusied my tailbone. and now everyone laughs at me because i cant ride very good and sit very good. but i proud that i didt fall off

Well there are a couple good things here. One is that they did not fall off and the other is that you didn't get hurt (badly);)

I HATE that horse/firecracker experience...to use terms coined by forum members, firecrackers can initiate a "horse teleportation experience" or "a spontaneous emergency dismount"...fortunately you didn't have either. Hope the rear is feeling OK soon:cowboy:

I'm lucky my horses don't care about firecrackers. My husband likes to shoot in the back yard. They are used to loud noises. I think I could do fireworks off of my horses back. :)
Have you thought about desensitizing your horse to this?

Oh, I hate that feeling! When I got bucked off my mare I stayed on for most of it and came off at the end. It's the getting banged around ON the saddle that hurts worse then getting bucked off. My butt was bruised so badly that I had to go get it checked for a broken tail bone. That was the worse doctors appointment ever. :o
