No news is not always good news.

I had a CT scan done Monday last week and due to the holidays have been awaiting results.
Ive called in and left messages and just got a call back from the nurse(weve talked before, this wasnt our first conversation)and she told me that Dr is in surgery today and wants to go over the CT and report with the radiologist before he talks with me.
Now, normally a nurse can give you the results over the phone, so I asked her, wow, sounds like there is something wrong there, she said, well, sometimes we dont agree on what we see, I(the nurse)may see something that the Dr may think is nothing, and then even the radiologist may see something different. So, with Dr in surgery today, she will mention it to him tomorrow, but I still have to wait until the Dr and radiologist can get together for me to get an answer.
I dont worry much, but now I am.
I just want to be cleared for surgery on my shoulder, but now wth is going on with my neck that a nurse cant tell me...

I'm sorry Vick. I know it must be stressful not knowing what is going on. Deep breaths! Where I live, the nurse can't tell you ANYTHING... it's all got to be done by a Dr.

Sending prayers and good calm vibes.

Well, if you sit and imagine the worst, then whatever it turns out to be probably won't seem so bad.

I joke, because I know that's what you'll do, even though you shouldn't. ;) Just hope for the best and wait till they call!

The nurse can give you results here over the phone once the Dr has released them.
Thing is, when a nurse dosnt give the info and there has to be a discussion before she can tell me,
then I worry.
Ive had results given from a nurse about my MRI on my neck, why they wanted me to get a CT.

Well then, like WB said. Try not to think about it all, even though you probably will. That's what we all do. Someone once told me (since I constantly worry about everything) that I can only control what is happening right now. I have no control over 5 min. from now, or 3 days from now... so I should just stop focusing on it and guessing what might or could happen. What's going to happen is going to happen and me sitting here worrying for hours/days about it - isn't going to change the outcome.

Sometimes that helps, sometimes it pisses me off. But I wanted to pass it along.

things maybe different here than it is there but our nurses will never discuss a patiences test results with out the doctor already viewing them. The doctors could view reports/tests results and leave detailed information for the nurse to pass on to the patient.

(((HUGS)))
Everything will be okay just slap the shitz out of the doctor for leaving you up in the air so long!!!:whack:

That is why she wouldnt go over them with me, the Dr hasnt released the results yet.

The info I got from the MRI was reviewed and released for the nurse to pass on to me.

I also think our heater is not working properly, its just not putting out the heat, more luke warm than hot.

Oh Vick! Hang in there, everything will be ok! Try not to worry cause if you are anything like me that will cause the muscles in your neck to tense up. Go light some candles and take a nice relaxing bath.

That stinks, Vicky! It would be nice if the Dr. and radiologist could get their act together so you can find out what's going on!

What kind of heater are you talking about, anyway?:)

Vicki, take a deep breathe and settle a bit... I know it is tough waiting been there done that too many times BUT be glad your doctor is NOT just blindly taking the report without discussing it with them.

Hopefully he doesn't see what the radiolgist does which would be good news NOT bad

Poor Vick. I wouldn't worry yourself too much. With the holidays, all my doctors are playing catch up as well. Chances are the doctor and radiologist just haven't been able to coordinate their schedules enough yet to actually even go over the scans together yet and give a result. Usually there's little to no delay because they can do it immediately and we don't even consider that they both have to take a look and collaborate. Most doctors collaborate with some sort of specialist on these types of things, so it might take a bit of time. Just relax and focus on staying warm and comfy! Sending good vibes your way...

First of all, Thank you all for your kind words. I know I shouldnt worry, its just frustrating for me. My shoulder has been this way sense August, but cant do surgery on it until my neck checks clear. Emotional about the horses. Ive been off work for 3 days due to being sick, and off until Sunday cause I scheduled it off for moving Myst, which didnt happen cause its WAYYYYY cold. And Im stuck inside...just frustrated is all I guess.
AND, I havent had a ciggy sense last night, which was the only one I had. And I only had one the day before. I think I need one now though...LOL

The heater is the furnace. My husband is in CA and called our heater guy and they are coming this afternoon.

Wow Vick,, sorry they are making you wait.. But it is for the best.. He wants to make sure about what is there or what is not there before he talks to you.. Here the nurses/tecs are not allowed to discuss what they see in any test/CT/MRI that is taken too.. Try to be patient :grouphug:and hopefully you will hear some good news soon. Keep us posted.

Nothing like them making a scary situation worse. Hopefully they just want to talk to each other and haven't gotten together yet. Sometimes if it is bad news they get in touch ASAP. Only thinking good thoughts for you, so far the year is going just dandy huh?

Good luck with the furnace too. We came back on Christmas Day to no heat at all, thankfully the heater guy lives about 1/4 mile away and he came right up. It was the switch. The fun just never seems to end. Take care of yourself. Hope everything will turn out fine with your health and the horses and I am guessing you are quitting smoking? Good Luck with that too, I know it's not easy, I never smoked because I'm allergic to it but I know it's not easy to quit. My brother in law has tried quite a few times, I think he would have been successful last time [hypnosis] but his wife was smoking in front of him so he started up again. Good Luck, you can't even play FarmVille to calm the nerves since that stupid game is only 1/2 working!!!! It is better today than yesterday though.

vicklynn
01-07-2010, 12:30 PM
LOL GR, nope, wasnt thinking about quitting, but its hard to smoke when your sick, AND its hard to go outside in this brrrrrr cold wind. I am soooo glad the horses have blankets and a wind block and shavings to lay in.
It is suppose to be above 0, even the real feel. Oh, its above 0, its 8, but the real feel is -13 due to the winds. Tonight, much better, its suppose to be -1 with a real feel of -23. Lovely, just lovely.

Anyways, the furnace guys just left. They checked the heat coming from the vent at 102.2, not to bad, yet not great, so they checked a few other things out then decided to pull the cover and check the heat strips...LMBO, we had a good laugh about that. Say hello to dinner if anyone likes fried mouse...:hysterical:
One of the guys said, got some BBQ sauce..lol The temp in the vent then went up to 107 after mickey was taken off the heat strips..wohoo, that felt good, finally I could put my hand on the vent and feel heat. They said they have had lots of calls lately, that its been 12 yrs sense its been this cold. Heck, even when we had the ice storms it wasnt this damn cold. It was just inches of solid ice, not cold blowing snow and winds. They said the winds are what is making it so cold, even in the house. I was wondering about that.
So, the heater situation, for now, is fixed. They need to make a call to the manufacture about something, but its not big deal. Ive used these guys for a few yrs, they are good at what they do.

New issue...:help::rant::headscratch:(and a smiley that has me flying somewhere but here)
I went to brush my teeth and put a brazer on. Figured with the guys coming it might be nice.
I turned my cold water faucet on in my bath sink, NO DAMNED WATER:banghead:. So, I turn the hot water on, works, tried the cold water in my bath tub, works, turned the water on in my kitchen, Bobs bath, everything works EXCEPT MY COLD WATER in my bathroom sink. So, the dogs 3 gallon bottle is empty, so that is getting filled, very slowly and I have my huge bath tub getting dripped into also. I put the plug in the tub so I can see how much water Im wasting. Its just at a drip at both spouts.
When Bob comes home Sunday, he is getting some new insulation and putting it up under my bath room where some is in need repair status. I would like a 2nd layer put up under the whole house, but for now, that one bathroom needs the temp fix.

If I could, I would fly away, like today, just to hide somewhere. Until then, Ill get a hot cuppa and a ciggy and head outside all bundled up looking like I live in Alaska....LOL

OH man!! Glad you figured the furnace situation out!!!! That's a big difference!!! And boo about your frozen cold water pipe in your bathroom!! I never turn my cold waters on here because they have sulfur in the line. They stink. . . the hot water doesn't stink, just the cold in my kitchen and in my son's bathroom. . .

Sounds like you have Alaska weather! It's cold here too and the wind which is non stop makes it worse. I dress like an Eskimo when I take Puppy out and I've been letting my man take care of the boys, the cold doesn't bother him as much as it bothers me. My hands go numb when it's real cold.

Glad the furnace situation is better. Poor Mickey though. Hope the water is OK. It's always something! Take care of yourself.

When it rains it pours, I know how that can be.

I am actually kind of surprised that your nurse will tell you anything.... here nurses are not allowed to discuss results with the patient. Hang in there, and just call back again and tell them to please have the doctor call you back before he leaves for the day. Heck, if nothing else, it has been over a week now? Call release of information and get a copy of the Radiology report. I have done that before, just requested my own report and read it for myself (along with discussing it with my doctor too, of course).

Ok, so now my pipes, all of them are frozen. My neighbor is over with a heater under the house at the main and one at the hot water heater. I had no idea we had heat tape and he found it and it was plugged in, but there is an area that is exposed, say a foot, so we are going to get heat tape for that area too.
I hope to hear a trickle soon.
Thank God for Good neighbors!!!!

Geez, frozen pipes are awful, everything seems to happen at once....why the heck is that anyway?!!

Hoping you hear about your results tomorrow. I hate waiting for things like that. I am still waiting to hear about my biopsies and it's driving me crazy (from the colonoscopy last week). Don't these radiologists and pathologists realize we're dying to know?! I think, that if I don't get any news tomorrow, I will call release of information at the hospital and check to see if the report was even dictated yet, if it is I am just going to request a copy, of course I'll still talk to my doctor about it, but enough already.
