Here is the internet version. The picture was actually from the second page of the article. The front cover was a shot of me working on a hind hoof of a different horse. They should have been switched, and the one with Officer Diaz should have been on the cover.

Yeah, my website has been somewhat revamped to include space for these horses and their care.

If you haven't been there for a while.

I see your updates when you post them at facebook too. There's two ponies there I'd be real tempted to bring home and lie to my husband about there. If you were closer I'd be in trouble.

Thunder has real potential. He is a sweetheart.

Buddy is at SAFE now and under saddle. They said he didn't think twice about being ridden, but then I knew he'd be that way. If I had pasture space he would be living at my house.

I have a rescue mini at my home who might have found a home, they are coming out today to check her out (Misty). If she goes, I will take another in. I have requested Star, but she might have found a 'forever' home too, which is great.

oohh. I like Fire. She would be a fun pony to have here at Buck's Hollow...probably a good thing you are not close.

OK, I had no idea the photographer was videoing. There is now a video up at the newspaper's website.

Had I known, I would have tried to impress more. Farrier's should appreciate the conditions I was trying to apply hoof repair in. It is a miracle it works, Equithane hoof repair does not work here, only Equilox. Too wet.

Fire lives at my house. Just trimmed her about an hour ago as a matter of fact. She now has better manners and we call her Misty again. Georgia is a ways away, but I could do all I can to get her to you :cowboy:

Just a quick word of appreciation for you, Shane. You are walking the walk by taking in horses that need help when you can. A big, big star goes on your "Good Human Being" chart for that! Thank you.

Pretty neat! It's great you are there to help and even give temporary homes to some that need it as well! If we had more money we would take on some rescues, etc. No worries about space here, just the rest! :(

Great video and story. That's awesome that you offer your farrier services for free to the rescued horses and that you take them in when you can.

I liked the video, you seemed really nice and informative with the reporter lady. Telling her it doesn't hurt the horse to put on shoes (nail them on) and you seemed like a genuinely nice guy that takes the time to offer his services for free to help the horses. I think the video was perfect and it's good that you didn't know they were filming. You were just yourself not knowing the cameras were rolling and you did great!

It's hard to find farriers that even like to talk to clients let alone be so helpful and upbeat about doing a job for free. I think it shows your good character and you said enough to explain what you were doing so non-horse people would get it with out going over there heads with details. Great job!

I hope the article will help bring in some people for possible adoption, I'm sure it helps when there's story's about them in the paper with pictures. Your doing such a great thing offering your services and fostering rescues.

I'm blushing. Thanks for the kind words. Let me tell you though, it sure doesn't feel like work working with this animal control officer. She deserves the kudos.

I think we have found a home for Misty, who lives at my house. That means I would have room for Star to come to my home. Meredith, my wife, met Star yesterday at the castration/teeth float clinic and said with a little work she would make someone a great horse. I would be able to really stay on top of her hoof care that way as well. Star's right hoof crack is healing nicely, but the permanent damage on the left is hard to tell as of so far.

The castration/tooth float clinic went well yesterday, if not a bit slow. There were 8-10 vet students, two teaching vets, 5 or 6 volunteers, and the farrier on hand. We got almost everyone castrated who needed it (2 were cryptorchid) and floated the teeth on 6. I appreciated the 'chemical restraint' on a couple who we weren't able to trim before. Their feet are now balanced and they are on the road to recovery! One of my favorites, Patch, was adopted!! Now to get them all adopted.

Very nicely done! It's great you are taking the time to help out the rescue horses. That was a great little acknowledgement they gave you in that article. :)
