Wow, those are awesome pictures! Your horses sure are pretty, they've both got such nice markings, I love those spots! It's just fun to go out into the pasture and take pictures, isn't it?! I do it all the time.....it's just sort of relaxing to walk out there and snap away, I may do that today after my casserole gets out of the oven...lol!

Aw thanks guys. I'm still on Cloud 9 this morning after last nights ride. Just waiting for the kids to go down for a nap and my FANTASTIC mother in law is coming over again to watch them. (Great benefit of being her neighbor!)

Today we are going to hit the trails that are in the summer pasture. If that goes well our next ride will be out in the 300 acre trails with no fence surrounding us and a road to cross.

I'm just itching to get out there! Even hubby is too, which is great since he's not as "horsey" as I am.

Since yesterday was the first real ride in awhile, and you're going again today, it will be a good chance to really evaluate their condition and the fit of your tack on both horses. Before you saddle up, poke and massage quite firmly with your fingers all the way down their back, on both sides of the spine and everywhere under the saddle.

Look to see if they flinch from this. Not just 'oooh that tickles' flinching, real, 'ooh that's tender' hollowing and shying away.

If that's all good, then terrific, you're good to go. If there are problems, you might have some issues to work out.

And go easy on them today, they haven't been worked in a while. Two days in a row is a big change! :)

Thanks WB. I plan on doing just walking this time around and there is one hill we have to go up. But other than that, no tough stuff. I don't want my pasture puffs straining. :) I'll make sure Hubby gets the point. He usually listens if I throw in "WB said it was a good idea".

I looked them over real good this morning while I was out there and didn't see any rubs, etc. on Booty from the saddle. I will look again though before we saddle her up. And of course, I'm not going to saddle up Norman. I'm kinda liking the bareback route. Makes me work on my balance!
