Pics from my day at the barn today!

It was such a beautiful fall day.....sunny, in the 50's, no wind. One of the other boarders was out at the barn today too, as was the barn owner and barn manager....I had a nice time this afternoon with Ness. I finally took her in the outdoor arena and we started our sessions on learning how to longe.....she was a good girl, didn't quite understand what I wanted from her at first, but after a few times she did circle around me a little bit. I need to get a longe whip tho, I lost mine somehow many years ago. Anyway, I got a few pics of Ness out in her pasture, she had her face buried in the hay pile....lol. And I also got a couple of the new barn/indoor arena going up, as well as the outdoor arena (it is a nice large arena).

Yep, I just decided to sort of stick with her original name which is Baroness......and I sort of just nicknamed her "Ness"...... Koko just wasn't working for me. lol. I like the way she is starting to fill out now, she is really maturing and loosing her gangly look.

The indoor arena will be small, but still large enough for cantering.....it will be so nice because the winters here are so cold and snowy. It's been a really long time since I've had an arena of any kind, so this is a real treat! It took me a long time on the name.....I just couldn't decide.....lol.

The name "Ness" is a lot easier to say too....lol.....

That was only after 4 days work that they got that up, so hopefully it gets finished real soon.....and then on to the shelters. It's a nice place out there, I've been really happy boarding out there. And they've got trails to ride on too, I'll be looking forward to that!

I think you should come down and ride some time Jessica! We'd have a blast! I am hoping by spring time to plop a saddle on her....that should be interesting, ha ha.... We have a lot of groundwork to do yet....she is basically a clean slate, all she knows right now is how to lead, and stands tied.... so I have my work cut out for me this winter.

She looks better all the time. I'm glad you decided on the nick name. I was going to suggest you call her Larry. Not that there is any significance, there just aren't a lot of horses named Larry.

Actually her belly was bigger a month or two ago.....we wormed her again, and now she is filling in along her topline more....but she does still have quite a tummy on her....the pastures were so lush and she sure enjoys her grazing.....here she is again....as you can see.....full face into the hay....LOL!! But, for sure she is pretty tubby.....maybe some longeing will help with that, she's had a long vacation....so, we are starting to learn longeing now. :)

I agree with Gypsy Rose -- Ness gets prettier every time you post pictures! And that barn/indoor arena is going to be wonderful! You'll get a lot of use out of that this winter. I'm really glad you found such a great horse, and have such a great place to keep her.
