 < Hubby right now on the couch. SNORING since 8:30. Lol. He's ready for the time change a bit early.
But he is SO LOUD it's amazing. I have a hard time concentrating on what I'm doing. I keep waking him up telling him to take a shower and just go to bed and he looks at me with sleepy eyes and says "I'm not sleeping" and then starts snoring again.
He's one of those people that as soon as their head hits the pillow at bedtime he's sleeping AND snoring. I'm the one that sits there trying to get to sleep and he starts up and then I'm up even longer because he's so loud.
Anyone else's SO snore? Solutions? He's tried Breathe Rights and those don't work at all. I saw a spray on TV once. Maybe we should try that?

It's usually better if you can roll him onto his side.
Ear muffs for you :)
If I do wake up in the night and there's a chorus of snoring, between hubby and the dog who has grown to take up half the bed, I'll usually go out to the couch and spend the last few hours till daylight dozing out there with the early morning news on. :)

Someday, many years from now you'll miss that snoring.........until then I suggest ear plugs.

:( I'm sure I will. Thanks for putting it into perspective for me. I tried ear plugs before though... could still hear. I'll just tell myself what you said over and over again until I fall asleep.

Has he been tested for Sleep Apnea? My husband also snores like a chainsaw but the mask makes it better!! Sleep Apnea is a serious condition that can cause heart attacks. You might want to discuss it with your doctor.

I agree with Miracle Whip, I actually sell respiratory supplies for a living and deal with obstructive sleep apnea quite a bit. He might want to ask a doctor about it, and maybe get a sleep study. Does he have daytime sleepiness? Have you ever noticed him stopping breathing in his sleep?

No, I was thinking about sleep apnea tonight actually when he started. I have tried to listen for his breathing, etc. and it's pretty regular.. no stopping.
I will mention this to him tomorrow and see if he'll go to the doctor. He doesn't like going at all, but I'll give it a try.
Thanks guys!

Here's a link to a site with some sleep apnea symptoms, you might run it by him. It may not be OSA, but worth checking into! In the meantime, get some earplugs ;)

Ooo...I know the "I"m not sleeping" thing. Must be a guy thing.
All I can suggest is if it doesn't turn out to be sleep apnea is a good pair of ear plugs. They do come in higher decible plugs - they are all "rated" for different levels. Maybe yours weren't high enough.

My dad used to snore REALLY LOUD, but it didn't bother my mom a bit. She said she liked to hear him snore. I thought she was crazy, LOL! But surprisingly enough, now I understand what she meant. I like to hear my SO snore. Strange, but true.
On the other hand, when I snore, he pokes me in the ribs until I roll over. Silly man. I don't snore. :innocent:

We go through that here too... drives me batty when he sleeps on the couch and pretends to be awake! I have to laugh when he sleep talks and wakes himself up then pretends he knows whats happening on the show and like he was commenting on it - he gets pissy as I die laughing!
As for the snoring in bed - I haven't tried it yet but I've read that you can sew a pocket in the back of a sleepshirt and put a tennis ball in it. Every time they try to roll onto their back they are gently reminded to go back to their side.

Does he drink milk? I know my dad snored a lot until we finally figured out that if he didn't drink milk than it was ok. Maybe you could try no milk for a day? My grandpa drinks.. well its called "lactiaid" or something like that instead of milk. :)

LOL...sorry you have to deal with a motor boat at night.....:)
My hubby doesn't snore, but he swears I can saw logs with the best of them.
Now my daughter grinds her teeth...THAT is something that drives me up a wall.
I swear she is not going to have any teeth by the time she is 18.

Uh oh - CG... that is NO JOKING! I have been a teeth grinder since I was young and because of it I had my first cracked tooth requiring a root canal and crown at age SEVENTEEN! I have also worn down my TM joint and my jaw clicks and sometimes locks... best at least get that girl a nightguard.

Yep..heading that direction, just waiting for the dentist to say when. Cheyenne has a few crazy medical things that have doctors stumped. I'll have to post here, maybe someone might have encountered some of the things.
Sorry Loves....didn't mean to hijack your thread.....:innocent:

No need to apologize Country. :)
Well I read through the list of symptoms from the website MissDixie gave to my husband. He said the only symptom he has is snoring. But I think that I will make an appt for him to just get checked out and see. I'll tell him it's a yearly physical or something to get him to go.

My snoring doesnt bother me, but it bothers my wife. LOL
She usually elbows me or kicks me and make me roll over, now that I think about it, she's very mean to me. LOL

Better to do the guard now before it's too late. I cracked so many teeth from grinding they had to get pulled out. What a nightmare. I also have TMJ, my jaw clicks and locks. It's miserable. I'm just a physical wreck!
My husband snores terrible. I finally gave up and moved to the couch because I need sleep and nothing stops him. No matter which way he lays he snores. I think it's his sinus issues because when we are in Vermont in the mountain air he doesn't snore at all. He feels much better there.

I'm a bad snorer and went to the sleep clinic a year ago. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea(stopped breathing 46 times an hour). I now use a CPAP machine and feel much better. Sometimes I fall asleep without the machine and my wife says I don't snore as bad as I used to but she prefers I use the machine :).

I've heard that if you can pinch his nose with one hand and hold your other hand over his mouth it will stop the snoring after about 5 minutes. Diane tried it one time, but I woke up so she stopped.:)
I don't know what the answer is seriously. Heck I snore and it drives ME crazy.

When Bob snores, or just breaths loud, I tune into it with my own breathing, or reach over gently and tap his leg with my foot, he swears I kick him..lol, so I have to tell him the next day that I didnt kick him. I guess to him, beings hes asleep, it seems like Im hitting harder than I am.
Mostly tuning into it works though, get my breathing with his, then it relaxes me.

I tried the whole getting in tune with his breathing.... that didn't work. it's not nice even snoring.. it's LOUD, then he stops, then he starts and it's SUPER LOUD.. then it's nice and I almost fall asleep then it's REALLY REALLY LOUD.
I usually end up nudging him, poking him, and telling him to "roll over, you're snoring" and then that gives me about 35 seconds to fall asleep before he starts again.

If it's not even, meaning he stops and starts a lot then have him get to the dr. and sleep clinic as soon as possible. There are some real serious health side affects from long term apnea.
I thought I would never be able to sleep wearing the mask but I slept better the first night with it than I had in years. There are also several alternatives to the full mask.

I can relate to teh snoring thing, my dog and my hubby snore, heck even the kities snore. Hubby says I do, but i'm not sure how he would know since he falls asleep the second his head hits the pillow! I try to meditate by repeting sleep over and over in my head, I can usually tune the 2 of them out that way.
I agree about the doctor thing, that doesn't sound normal! My dad has sleep apnea and wears a mask. He likes it allot.
