BWF tack room cleanout?

I've been thinking.... and thinking..... on the whole passing on the good vibes thing, and I realize I have a LOT of stuff in my tack room that I don't use, and most of it is not worth the $10 to $50 bucks I'd get for it AFTER going through the hassle of 1) cleaning it 2) trying to sell it.

So, being inspired by the goodwill of my friend who chose to pass her old saddle on down the line to someone who could use it, I think it WOULD be FUN to have a BWF tack trade, or scholarship, etc - you folks have to help me out with a game plan here.

So, one idea is to do it this way: start a thread where people can post pictures of the junk we have that we could part with, and then people could respond by PRIVATE MAIL if they are interested in the tack, and why (give your sob story here, or just say how much you would LOVE to have it, how it would make a difference for your horse). Then it is a personal choice about who you give it to, without having to publicly defend your choice.

The deal would be that A) you are giving away the stuff for free
and B) the recipient agrees to pay the shipping cost

I think that sounds like a great idea! I don't have anything to give away, though. I have hardly any tack, and what I have I use.

It would all be free choice. My plan is to get down to the stuff that I use - I've experimented with a lot of different things and finally found what works and what doesn't work for my horses.

The only thing I can think of that I don't use is a yearling halter in pretty decent shape. Don't think anyone would want that though.

Awesome idea.:) I might have a couple things I can contribute- a headstall that's too small for my horses and maybe a few other things. I'll look around.:)

Just a suggestion, but I am guessing your local animal control could use halters, lead ropes, and blankets.

It is a write off too for you :)

Remember, we want to send a PRIVATE MESSAGE to the post-er if we are interested in the tack. I think it is in everybody's best interest to keep the recipient anonymous for the time being.
