Cheyenne gets this bruise like mark on her arm a couple times a year. It's always the same shape and in the same location. She hasn't hurt herself in any way, it just appears, gets to be a dark colored bruise then disappears after about 3 days. It doesn't hurt her, but even the doctor doesn't know what it is.

Anyone ever seen this before or have any suggestions on what else to do or what tests might be able to be run? Doctor told me to keep a photo journal of when it happens, but don't know what to do.

These were taken in the Spring of this year..

Very wild guess, but maybe an allergy to something?

Gosh, that is a puzzlement. Has a dermatologist looked at it? I had an unusual red mark on my lower leg last year, it lasted for several months and actually left a faint mark there, but mine was painful for a while, and we sort of wondered if it may have been shingles..... Maybe a dermatologist would have an idea, and I wonder if they could do something like a skin scraping and send it in to be analyzed?

They look like scratch marks to me. I have exzema, and I scratch my arms/legs at night while I'm asleep--when I wake up in the morning, I've got some interesting looking patterns. The lines are parallel, which makes me think she might be itching in that spot...

Hi Sarhound...at first I thought the same thing, but.....the mark is ALWAYS the same exact pattern and in the same exact spot. I don't think Chy could be that precise everytime if she were scratching herself....LOL Plus, it's not a scratch, it looks like a bruise and it only lasts for about 3 days.

When it does pop up, I have had to hurry and get her into the doctor so they could see, half the time we can't get an appointment till day 3 which is when that mark is disappearing. Doctors piss me off sometimes.
