He's been here on the farm for 2 weeks now, and he looks like he's starting to put on some weight. It didn't take him very long to figure out how to tell me it's time for some more "goodies" to be put in his bucket...he bangs on the pipe fencing of the stalls now.
Pictures of the day he came home:

He's munching on some new-cut hay that was just harvested last Sunday about a mile from my farm. These square bales are approximately 1300 pounds apiece, a mix of coastal and bahaia, which is what we will be able to bale off of our place after we rejuvenate the pastures. These bales are selling for $33 apiece. I nearly fell over; I was paying $65 a round bale last year for really crappy hay and was doggone glad to be able to get it. This stuff is pretty hay, and Prince seems to approve of it wholeheartedly. The hay guy is local to me and can drop a bale every few weeks, since we don't yet have a tractor to move big bales by ourselves. He'll also bale our hay once we've got the pastures up and running.
I'm really starting to like it out here...
