Hey guys I have a cat named Boots. He is part Siamese. He has blue eyes and is very sweet. He was one of the barn cats but Callie my female has run him off out of the barn so my hubby and I have decided to make him an inside cat along with my already inside cat Stripes. I am not sure how long he has been without food but I noticed tonight that he is having trouble walking some not bad but hard for him to get up. He is just a year old. I have given him 2% milk and he is drinking that but I had to force him to eat some wet food with milk. I am thinking that his kidneys might be shutting down but not sure because he is peeing and pooping alright it seems. I saw him go into the litter box but is there something else that I can do for him. We just brought him inside last night. I am unsure of how long it has been since he has had food because I feed the other cats at the barn. I am going to take him to the vets as soon as I file my income taxes tomorrow. It will probably be Tuesday before he goes.

What a cutie!
Little bits of food at frequent intervals- free choice water.
Hope he turns out okay. He looks like such a trusting soul.

Milk isn't actually good for cats - a lot are actually allergic.
Since he's not feeling well I'd give him some plain tuna or boiled chicken. Our cat won't eat human or wet cat food, he will only eat dry cat food and small animals he's killed himself. Eggs (cooked or raw, without any salting or peppering, of course) are also great for cats... I'd cook them incase of salmonella, since he's already sick.

Have you noticed him trying to ahhh lets say pee, and having a hard time? If so, you need to get him to a vet. Toms can get crystals of some sort form in their urinary tract that prevents them from being able to go. Comes from too much ash in their food. Some have a problem with it and some don't. Our cat TC had that problem when he was about that age and we almost lost him. Took him to an emergency vet and they did a cath and worked on him for a while and he got over it. We just had to watch what we fed him after that. TC is 15 now and very sick, but he never had any other issues with that problem.

No not really he seems to be peeing alright. If all goes well he will be fixed on Tuesday if he is feeling better by then.

Yeah, sorry. I saw that in the original post after I made my long winded reply. I hope he will be o.k. Let us know how it turns out.

Actual chicken broth is fine - not the pre-packed stuff though, it has too much salt.

Will he eat canned food?? I would also try the chicken broth. If I think of anything else I'll hollar. I'm thinking still.

If you're giving him chicken broth, make sure he has plenty of access to water - the salt in it's going to make him thirsty, which is generally a good thing for a sick animal. :)

If he's still feeling bad on Tues. I wouldn't get him fixed for his sake.

No I won't do that only if my vet says its alright for him to have the surgery. I started him on the chicken broth and mixed it with water. He drank that with not much fuss. I have hard cat food out for Stripes and Boots went and ate a little bit of it. He seems like he is perking up some but I am going to keep a close eye on him.

I just read this quickly... but is there a reason you're trying to feed him something other than good cat food? Is he not willing to eat, or has he just had a lack of good access before?

I think he's not wanting to eat. She just moved him from outside to inside because of a cat picking on him. So right now she's trying to get him to eat anything she can.
Glad he ate some of the Chicken broth. That's good! Maybe he's coming around. :) That'd be great!

Guys I took boots to the vets this morning. He got into a fight with one of the other cats probably Callie but anyhow she bit him and punctured a sore on his back. I just found the sore this morning and knew that he had an infection. They cleaned the wound and put some creme inside of it to help with the infection and gave him to drop fulls of antibiotics. They said it will be a week to a week and a half before he is well again. I am glad that I found it when I did they told me that if I had waited until tomorrow then most likely we would of ended up putting my Boots to sleep. I am glad that didn't happen. they also took his temp and it was 104*. He is sleeping right now behind the TV stand.
Thanks for all the prayers guys. He will be neutered on the 16 of this month as well. As long as the infection is gone.

I may end up taking him back to the vet for a collar because he is licking and licking the wound.

I won't be able to upload those pics now. My computer yesterday decided to give up the ghost. I had to buy a new one. I got a Dell now and hopefully I will be able to upload those pics again if I didn't erase them from my memory card in the camera.
