I don't know if a post like this has been made before but some great things are about to happen for us and I was just wondering. What brand of horse feed do you like to feed and why? If you use something other then what is listed please tell us what you use? I don't know names of all the different brands but here are a few. Please vote as it will help me keep track. Thanks :)

I put my vote in for purina, but I also need a vote for other. I feed Cash Purina Equine Senior, but everyone else gets an 8% All Gain that is milled here localy. And previously I was feeding FRM (Flint River Mills) made in Georgia.

One of mine gets regular Triple Crown the other Triple Crown Lite. One needs weight on, the other weight off!

That sounds like a good feed and makes it nice that your feed store sells it.

I use Kent feeds, used to use Buckeye but they got so expensive & hard to find sometimes.
I do use Buckeye Ultimate Finish as a fat supplement though.
What wonderful things are about to happen?

Tribute- kalm ultra. Its a fixed formula extruded pellet. We have so many people switch to it after sending a horsein training and seeing how they blossom on this feed.

I use Lone Star feed. Super Glo 4. I do not feed the whole ration though.
I found out that my horses would be getting to much iron if I did, so Im glad Im not anyways.

I feed Purina Strategy white bag. Why : because Tess has a good ( for me ) amount of energy on it , her coat looks great , and she seems overall to do really well on it.

I use various feeds. My horses at home get a 12% sweet feed made by a company in town. My older gelding eats Purina Senior. My guys up here don't each grain for the most part, but when they do I have just been feeding them Horseman's Edge. I debated on switching to Omolene 100, but as I said they don't really eat that much grain.

I forgot what we use so I will post it when I get home from work.. I know it isn't any listed though. I have used Blue Seal but I don't like it as much as the one I use now..

I've been feeding Nutrena, fixing to change some things around though (not because of the feed but other reasons).

Seminole senior wellness.
I like the herbal aspect. He's not an easy keeper and now I get a great discount too.

And Purina pulls ahead by one coming down down the back stretch.

Is this going to have something to do with how bad people think Purina is? ;)

Cheval, I was wondering the same thing. So many people do like it.

It has worked wonders for the horses around here. The Purina guy is coming to our local feed store to do a big presentation on current and upcoming products.

Purina has been around forever, heck, they even make Rat Chow. If they were bad they wouldn't have lasted so long. Purina will get the most votes because it is popular & easy to acquire.
I've never seen a bad looking horse on Purina.

I'm going to guess the OP is starting a feed store or a boarding stable. Any other guesses?

My horses get 10% all grain thats made by a local feed store. I have feed this same grain for 10 yrs. :) They mix and grind it fresh everyday which I like knowing my horses feed is fresh when I buy it. :) Before I got started on the 10 % all grain I use to buy some bagged grain till I found mold and bugs in it a few times. ugh !

I had to say "other" because my horses get homegrown feed. Curious to see what this is all about!! People seem to really like Purina!

Well one of the reasons I like the purina is Tess seems to have a hard time eating corn and oats with molasses, her teeth were horrid when we got her and I think it has to do with that, the Strategy I feed is Pellet form and she has no problem eating it, her coat has improved greatly, as her mane and tail, and I think it's giving her what she needs.
It's also easy to get ( feed mill 2 miles from my house ) and it's not THAT expensive at $12.70 for 50 lbs.

Wow guys. Sorry I have gotten back here sooner. It's great to hear what everyone feeds and that it's working for them. I was just wondering about the rate of Purina because as someone guess it (can't remember who) we are opening a feed store...well buying it. :D We have a couple different feed stores here and long story short, one closed a year or so ago, the one that sold Purina in the area and someone else opened up reselling it. Well that guy lives up north in Greeley and has another feed store up there and decided to sell this one. We have be going there because they sell Purina and that's what we feed. My hubby has become friends with the manager and he told hubby about the sell. So hubby talked to his dad who is a business man about it and he looked it over and said it's a great deal so he's buying it and we will be running it as he's in PA and has a big business out there. So we will be the local Purina dealer for the area! We sell everything else too, hay (large and small bales), feed for all and lots of shelf products. The best part of it is that it's our products which mean.......FREE FEED!!!! I just can't believe it. This is such a blessing for our family as my hubby was in construction forever and if you know anything about that, well at least out here, it's anything but reliable. I was going to wait to tell you guys until it was all said and done but I just can't hold it in anymore. Here's some pictures of the place. We won't be owning the building or land itself just the business which is the name, products and the supplies to run it. We just rent the building but in the future may buy it I don't know.

How exciting!! Congratulations!!! Get some cool horse stuff and people will be flocking in droves!! I always thought it'd be fun to own a tack/feed store. I would have animal adoptions on Saturdays with my shelter group I volunteer at. It'd be a lot of fun. Aww. . dreaming! lol

That is awesome!!! I would love to open a Tack & Feed at Buck's Hollow...We don't have one close by in this area..I think it would do well here.

Congrats and Good Luck!!!

I use Triple Crown Lite because I have a metabolic/cushingoid horse and it is the lowest in ESC/NSC than Purina or the others. Purina's Low Starch, which I used to use, is very high in the iron dept., 880ppm to be exact too much for any horse. My feed dealer is strictly Purina so I have to go to KY about 13 miles distant to buy my TC Lite from a Southern States dealer.

I currently feed Strategy, which I think is a pretty good feed. I started using it when I got Allegro as it was one on Dr. Valentine's feed list. I was feeding KC Nutrena Prime at the time, and it got to be a hassle to buy 2 separate feeds (because I had to go to 2 different stores as the one that carried Prime didn't carry Strategy and vice versa) so I just switched KC to Strategy too.

I've fed Nutrena feeds pretty much up until I got Allegro and like their products. I was feeding their senior formula to my old guy before he passed. Before I had put him on their senior, we were having a hard time keeping weight on him (I was a kid and don't remember what we were feeding him before the switch), but once we found the senior feed he really blossomed.
