I've had this Ipod for about 4 years or so and still don't know how to add songs to it. It's such a pita.

Okay here is the problem. I originally had all my music library on my old computer which is now upstairs for my daughter to use. I though I had all my files saved but can not find my itunes library.

Now I've purchased a few new songs on my NEW computer and tried a couple different times to down load them to my ipod but can not without deleting all my songs that I have on my ipod!!!!
Itunes recognizes my ipod and stuff but has no music (original) library saved.

My question is, how can I get new music download on to this ipod without lossing whats left on it?

you have to change your settings...UNclick the option that you want it to sync with the itunes library every time

and that should do it for ya. :)

your ipod should be an icon in the left hand side tool bar ...click the song you want and drag it over your ipod icon and wala!

I didn't know that either!! We just always reupload EVERYTHING. It's the reason I won't own an Ipod. My Mom bought one because she thought it was the best. I have spent MANY hours cursing my Mom's ipod while trying to get her music put on it. So good luck!

yea I've always bought iPods but I really hate them. They will erase if you don't use them for a few months which drives me CRAZY!

I will say that one of their ipods (the one that was like $400 did make it thru the wash tho! lol) It was in my boyfriends pocket and I was sobbing once I opened the washing machine and saw it. But it's still working.

I did accomplish saving it to my music library but nothing has been uploaded to the ipod. I dragged the items to my icon but nothing yet?

My son uses limewire and says its so much easier to use but I don't want to loose my songs and don't trust the site for bugs.
Oh well if you have any more ideas that I can try before I head out on the road to AZ.

when you drag it does the song title turn transparent and move with you?

Save yourself the headaches and just buy a Sansa MP3 player. ;) Both kids and myself have them and I love them. VERY easy to upload music and I don't have to use Itunes or have any special software. I can also upload pics and video if I want.

WHOOHOO I HAVE TUNES:)

Okay horseaholic you was right but I needed to change my settings to manually add songs (DUH like you didn't say something to that effect LOL)

Just got off the phone with the Itunes tech help and the guy was WONDERFUL (and not from India, a real AMERICAN from the south;) )
He walked me through everything and gave me some very useful advice for the future:)

WHOOHOO I have more tunes for the trip!!!
