My friend known as Ajdesertrider on the forum also brings her son to the gymkhanas. She has only Arabians. So today, while we were standing around talking, she was holding her horse Bella and I said.... "Hey, let me get on and you lead me back to the trailer."
She almost fell over laughing. She told me "NO, if you get on you are riding her on your own." :p So I hopped up on Bella and was going to just ride her back to the trailers, but AJdesertrider MADE me ride her around the arena.... of course I told her she had to walk with me, cuz I am such a CHICKEN!!! :hysterical: :hysterical:
Geez, I hate getting old and fragile.
So here is Bella and I today.

Good for you! You need to ride more Arabs- they're a blast to ride. Very sensitive, but most of them aren't explosive, like so many think the breed is, lol! They're actually quite smart!

You look good! Yes, please don't get sensitive mixed up with crazy. Arabs are actually my breed of choice when it comes to children's mounts. I've ridden and shown with LOTS of arabians. They are vastly under appreciated and under valued.

A friend of mine had an Arab that I used to ride all the time - she was hot in the sense that all she wanted to do was run, but she wasn't out of control. She was great on trails and could go for days. She was such a sweetie ...but I felt really big on her (I'm 5'10) and she was pretty small.
And when I was a kid I used to show and take lessons on an Arab. He was a stinker for adults, but did excellent with kids.

Aw come on, scared of such a sweet little thing? Bella is B-E-A-U-TIFUL! I agree, the first time I rode an Arabian (which, sad to say, was after I bought one lol) the whole high head thing kinda freaked me out. But I got over that pretty quick. The thing that bothered me most for the longest time was how fast they walk, or at least how fast Angel walked. The Fjords and QHs and others that I rode walked reeeaaallllyyy slow and Angel's walk was practically as fast as their trot! Looks like fun though lol. I'm jealous of your sunny-ness!

THAT is what got to me too. she holds her head higher than my quarter horses. And she walked faster than my horses. I kept wanting to hold her back, but I didn't want to confuse her. My stomach was in knots as it was.

Mhm lol. First time I rode Angel I was freaking out because I'm like, are you going to bolt or something on me? But I eventually got used to it. It's actually a lot of fun when you do get a feel for their gaits. Very different from others I've ridden.
