Guys I might be attending this school to become a veternarian technician. I am excited because it is all online and I am going to talk to my vet Valerie if she would be my proctor. This person here gives me my examines and also goes with me so that I can do my clinicals. I am going to have to talk to her but I think she would say yes. This is a dream come true if I can make it happen between work and family my plate is full but I am not happy at my job right now. I will have to try and get assisstance financial help to go back to school. I should qualify though i think. What do you guys think about this idea?

I think it's a neat idea, and a field that gives you a lot of good skills for keeping and tending animals, especially if you've decided to breed, as you have.
So if I thought I'd have time, or, rather, would take the time, I'd do it even if I couldn't get a job doing it.
The trouble always with correspondence courses is whether they're really as rich a learning experience as an actual classroom is. But the thing about that is, I think you get out of them what you put in them. If you've got good opportunity for hands-on clinical experience, and are willing and able to be quite self-directed and thorough in your studies, the experience would not be wasted time.
I would find out, if you're really going to seek employment at it, whether the accreditation is respected within the industry. Some online certs are, some aren't... and I don't know which category this program fits into.

This school is accredited through the AVMA I know they recognize this school. Countryside one of the vet tech went through there. I would have plenty of opportunity for hands on. I was also home schooled so it appeals to me doing it on my own. I have a year at WKU and although I liked the courses I couldn't get over the fact that some of the students were there just to goof off. I am 30 years old a late start but I think now that my boys are older and have started school now would be the time for me to go back as well.

Awesome, awesome idea, Caddo!!!!! If I was going to do it over again, I'd probably do the same thing. I'll be 50 this year and while I'm definitely not too old to go back to school, I don't feel like I need to for my career or to help the animals. But if I was in your position, I could definitely see myself becoming a vet tech. Rock on!!!

Thanks guys I first have to talk to my vet and see if she will be my proctor. If I don't start this year it will be in the spring of next year for sure. I am excited about going back to school. I will love that job very much. I wanted to be a vet but my life went in another direction so I have now st my sights a little lower but I would proud to be a vet tech to. Working with animals has always been a dream of mine. Now I can see it becoming a reality for me. Thanks so much for the encouragement.

No none yet been busy with PT waiting for her to foal out. I will be talking to my vet on Thursday next week so I will talk to her then about it. She is supposed to be coming out here and working on my horses teeth floatings and Cutter is having a complete physical done on her because of showing and then Caddo is going to be checked to see if he can be gelded yet. I am going to take that time to talk and see what she has to say.
