Unless he has some sort of hideous secret we just haven't found out about, Paul Ryan is going to be President someday. He's an impressive guy. You'll get to say "I smelled him back when..."

Goes without saying, Natisha.;)

I'm so relieved the big show has drawn to a close. In parting, the President revealed the hand he held from the inception of the Blair House chat plan. Do a day long rehash of the bill that he can't get passed with a super majority, then leave with the message that if Republicans can't come over to his side on some parts of the bill, then he'll have to explore other options for passage. Reconciliation.

Bring it. The majority of Americans want this monster to go away. Let's see if your Democrats over ride their constituents for you. I don't think they will, Mr. President.

President Obama and his cohorts, who came to listen to republican ideas talked for over 4 hours......the Republicans talked for less than 2 hours......

It was all a gimmick.

I was only able to see a little bit of it this morning. From the write-ups I've seen so far it sounds iike the R's came loaded for bear, knew it for the trap it was, and pretty effectively made the D's look foolish. I would have counseled them not to go at all-- knowing it's just a trap to make it look like the R's are the stick in the mud. But after these reports it sounds like they played their cards right and had a pretty good day.

Even though I think this was staged for political gain, and an excuse to use reconciliation, I'm glad the Republicans went. So many people are satisfied with a superficial understanding of what is happening in our government, via sound bites and talking points, that I'm sure a great many actually believed the "Party of NO" nonsense about the Republicans. I'm glad they had the opportunity to hear what the truth was.

Roger that. At this point I really hope the D's go for reconciliation. it'd be the stupidest thing they could possibly do. But hey... who am I to complain? It's looking like the D's are going to lose their majority, at least in the house. If they want to lose the Senate too... I'm all for it.

I just want to point out again that all of this talk, talk, talk is over a bill that Obama cannot get passed. When bills are brought up, and they don't get the votes needed to pass, they are gone. For him to spend all this time insisting that Congress work on this bill, when it's officially dead, is just another 'fake the public' move. In reality, the Democrats have to start over, because their bill did not, and will not, pass.

But you don't understand...the Democrats know more than you, they know what is better for you, so you should just take what they give you and be thankful :p

Yes, I know. I'm just one of millions that needs more 'splaining, before I get it. Dang, dumb electorate anyway.

Yay, we get another six weeks of this!
