looking for a trainer who is willing to work with a horse that some people may say messed up and has time to work with her she needs lots of work. has had only a little of training mainly a little of ground work and only a few weeks of riding is all she has had to this point

Your horse isn't messed up, she hasn't had enough training to be messed up. She's just set in her ways & needs to learn new ways.
There are lots of trainers who could help you but they cost money.
People can be very quick to judge a horse, but that doesn't mean they're right. With so many horsey educational books, dvd's, and tv shows available now, there's alot you can learn to teach her yourself.

I second this. Misty will progress with training, she is by no means a lost cause. She just needs work and that costs money unless you do it yourself.

this is what i think about my horse.
she is a great horse to me
shes just what i wanted because i wanted to learn how to train them and not have a horse thatr was already trained because would you think that you would get bored of a trained horse after a while plus i didn't have the money to get a trained horse. shes willing to learn and has already learned a lot since i got her. when i first got her she would never let me touch her hoofs now she does really well. also she would never stand still. now she'll acually stand still to a point she gets bored easlily so i change it up a lot when i work with her. also when I first got her all i did was walk with her teach her her verble words just walking with her and i groomed her everyday. when my friend moved her horse back with my horse again they became hip to hip and some of the borders said she was acting like Holly the other horse was her baby she didn't want to be taken away from holly. now shes doing better shes not so atached to Holly.she used to never stand for the ferrur but now she does hes know my horses since we first got her and hes seen a big inprovement i don't really need a big trainer i just need someone who knows what there doing. also that would be wiling to work with me and maybe even work out a deal with me. i'm flexable to a point money is tight this month mom said but next month should be better she said.

Agree^
Here is another idea. Find someone willing to let you watch and learn from them while they train/work with their horses. Sometimes other boarders who are more experienced will give some helpful hints/ideas.
You could also offer to clean, feed, or etc. for some brush up courses for your horse and you.
Take your time and ask a lot of questions. Pick up a few videos to help you out too. There are some rental places that you can get some from too.

how much experience do YOU have with horses???
Trainers cost money the cheapest one I KNOW is $500 a month and you provide feed
What is she doing and what do you want done??

not to mention you get what you pay for a cheap trainer will likely turn out a cheap horse 500 a month is average around here, altho you dont have to provide feed....Kevin

Kevin sometimes you get lucky and come on a beginning building thier name trainer cheaper but it is a pot luck type thing.
Part of reason the above trainer does that is because so many people have thier horses on different stuff. When I took Moosa over he went with his feed bagged and tagged for the 30 days. He does provide the hay but I sitll took some of my own. But then again I got him ALOT cheaper then the $500 :)

Hmmm, how'd you do that?
His brother owed me 30 days for helping them sell some horses so he worked me a deal. And Moosa was super easy since I already had 30 or so rides on him. Basically there was NO ground work to be done he was ready for Pete to ride. :)
the ones I know are in Effingham IL area

I ended up paying for the "stall" space for the 30 days since it was at his FIL's place ... and nobody gets free anything there :)

You may have some good contacts through the horse club and where you take lessons. I hope you can find someone who will encourage you along as you work with your horse. :)

Update: HeavensEast really wants to help MG & her horse. I have agreed to let the horse come here for 3 weeks, no charge, with conditions. They must work the horse every day, no excuses. They are to do the training but I will be on standby in case they run into problems or aren't sure what to do next. They are to wear helmets anytime they are around the horse, even grooming. HE is to be in charge. MG will help HE with her barn chores.
Before any of this can happen Misty must have her feet attended to properly & her nutrition must be addressed. This should be started today.

Natisha and heavenseast you both have a big heart:) My hat goes off to you two:)
note to Misty: Just my:2cents: worth.
Listen to EVERY word. Be a sponge and gather all information. Question, ask many of questions until you GOT it!
Don't argue or be disrespectful to the hands that are helping (I don't know you and this is a in general rule of thumb that I tell everyone:) )
Do a little extra to help out where you know you can. A good strong back can get a LOT of education:)
Enough said, now go and learn how to be one with your horse:)
Looking forward to the updates:)

Well, in case you are still ever considering a trainer from Wisconsin..... I've seen a couple horses this guy has trained, the horses were very soft in the bridle and really moved off the leg so nice..... I'd really recommend this guy.....

http://rockinz.com/Training.htmlThe main problem is the kid has no $$ & a Mom who doesn't realize what kind of danger she is putting her kid in as evidenced by allowing her to get an untrained horse.

After seeing recent pics of the horse & talking to PeggySue we've decided the best action would be to put her on a ration balancer to avoid extra spunk. Her weight is OK but her coat & hooves could be better perhaps pointing to nutrition.
I also talked to Mom & she was very nice & willing to do what is needed.
Things are looking up.

im wondering why is it just for 3 weeks ?and not 30 day 4 weeks ? im just asking ?I believe I am the person she talked to before if I understand your question correctly. She had worked some with another trainer but has no where to work the horse except a field & the trainer is in the process of moving & does not have the time.
I chose 3 weeks because knowing human nature it is really hard to pay board at a place your horse is not at. Three weeks is enough time for the horse to settle in & for me to see how devoted the girls will be to the training program.
My board is $345/month. Lessons $30. Training $100/week. I am not charging her a penny.

It was very nice of her to offer, but it's difficult when you're not actually there to physically help with the horse. Also, MG learns better visually as far as I've noticed. I will actually be able to help work the horse consistently while MG watches and learns as well.

I'm not sure what MG is talking about but we went (HE & I ) with MG to see her horse. She's really cute. She totally tunes people out but once you get her attention she is first pushy & in your space. We worked on that issue & she came around somewhat. She doesn't try to please like some horses but she does give in pretty quick. She is not a biter but will try to get her way at times as she doesn't know better.
Her lips were swollen, I suspect from dewormer given incorrectly, but should be fine shortly. Her feet look good. She had a note for her farrier as to what we wanted done & he did it.
MG has some homework that she can do herself before she brings Misty here. Hoping for nice weather soon as that horse stinks.
She's been started on a RB which she loves.
I think they will be OK.

I have seen the horse one time. I have also seen MG ride, she has never cantered any horse. Perhaps she didn't care for my assessment.
In the time she had the horse she could not catch her & the horse tried to attack her. HE turned that around so the mare walked up to them, within 2 days. All positive work done on Misty has been HE's doing, some under my guidance.
MG asked for a date to bring the horse & I believe she didn't like that I said she needed to do more ground work, easy stuff first. The day she asked me she also already had alternative plans but omitted telling me. That makes her dishonest in my book. I would have embraced the idea of someone explaining things to her, would have made my job easier.
I feel bad for HE. She spent a lot of time working with Misty & Mg, giving her rides to the farm, becoming her friend, getting excited to work with the horse etc. only to find out on a forum that she wasn't wanted.
I too am confused but I don't expect an explanation.
MG- you owe me $20 for your horse's fecal exam & you should recheck her 2 weeks after deworming to see if her count has gone down.

MG...I'd say this isn't any of my business but you've actually decided to make it all our business by posting your decision publicly on this forum before having the decency to address Natisha and HE to their faces or personally.
We all have reasons for not doing things and these reasons don't have to be justified by anyone but ourselves but to announce your decision to the forum FIRST is rude, immature, and inconsiderate. Especially for all they've done so far and were willing to do for you when asking for nothing in return.
The reasoning you listed above is a cop out. If I even understood it.
I was gonna keep my mouth shut but this is really bugging me. You don't get opportunities like this every day...most , NEVER get opportunities like this ever and to basically throw it back at HE and Natisha's face is just wrong. You should have turned it down immediately rather than let them put time and energy into you and your horse.
