This is pretty good!
I copied this from someone at DU who says she got it from her boss, bless her heart...:)
Notice to All Employees
As of November 5 , 2008, if President Obama is officially elected into
office, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping
with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:
1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales bonuses into a common pool
that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give
those of you who are underachieving a 'fair shake.'
2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime,
into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help
those who are 'too busy for overtime' to reap the rewards from those who
have more spare time and can work extra hours.
3. All top management will now be referred to as 'the government.' We will
not participate in this 'pooling' experience because the law doesn't apply
to us.
4. The 'government' will give eloquent speeches to all employees every
week, encouraging its workers to continue to work hard 'for the good of
all.'
5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's
'good to spread the wealth.' Those of you who have underachieved will
finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had
success will feel more 'patriotic.'
6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't
feel bad though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free
handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps , and he'll let
you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay your
mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even
get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn't all
Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?) !!!
If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to
rethink your vote on November 4th.

Sure it is, because any of that would ever really come to pass. Obama is not really all that far to the left. So the editorial I posted was unfair, links to the KKK, etc., but this is fine? O.K., got it. Even my sister the Republican whose views are extraordinarily like your own doesn't think any president will ever get a ban on guns or universal health care through any congress, not even one with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. The President of the United States is not really THAT powerful--he does in fact answer to the people, and he shares power with congress and the Supreme Court.

NO no, no ban on guns, ban on stupid people with guns, ya thats it.

This is what I think we will discover if he is elected. I honestly believe that we will be able to revisit this question in four years (again if he is elected) and agree that these fears of a huge leftist movement were not realized.

LOL..... so when he told Joe the Plumber he wanted to (his words) "...spread the wealth...".....that's NOT too far to the left?

YES! YOU do get it! Left field references to the KKK = not fair play. That was out of bounds and should be grounds for that guy and anyone who repeats it to be taken out and sprayed with a hose.
Political philosophy = fair game.

The President of the United States is not really THAT powerful--he does in fact answer to the people, and he shares power with congress and the Supreme Court. And that's one fair argument against this. That a president, no matter what his personal views, can only go so far, should provide us with some measure of comfort. I think I even argued that yesterday.
See a difference? :D

Nothing in there about "Anyone voicing disagreement with said policy is making a virtue of selfishness"?

No. It wasn't a left field reference to the KKK. It was a historical analysis. The KKK did what it did in the 1920s, no one said Palin was a member or that the KKK is a threat today. It was a valid analysis that drew interesting parallels between one era and another, that's all. You can state that the analysis is wrong, but there was nothing wrong with making the analysis.
This joke...I agree, I guess that it's fair game. But it just seems like piling on, like rallying the forum around calling Obama a socialist. It's so like so many things that have been posted here in the last month, that it seems old and stale--horseless posted something similar last night. But I do agree that it's political philosophy--you are right. But I also think that the editorial I posted was an honest analysis that could lead to fruitful discussion about culture wars and the politics of personal destruction.

Well I am gonna quit my job and join the Obama civil protection corps. we" will be equally as strong and well funded as the military" and will be able to keep the citizens in line who don't think right. this way only the "right " people have guns. ;)

Arrow, if you can't see that ANY reference to the KKK in this race, with these candidates, is purely inflammatory and devoid of any useful or relevant historical context or comparison to anything happening in this race, I'm afraid I don't have time or energy to explain it to you. There simply are no parallels. It was a turd in the punch bowl. Nothing more, nothing less.
I revised and extended that reply above, btw. We were cross posting.

Oooooo, I gotta share this one about Joe the Plumber then...
Barack Obama discovers a leak under his sink, so he calls Joe the Plumber to come and fix it.
Joe drives to Obama's house, which is located in a very nice neighborhood and where it's clear that all the residents make more than $250,000 per year.
Joe arrives and takes his tools into the house. Joe is led to the room that contains the leaky pipe under a sink. Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama, who is standing near the door, that it's an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes.
Obama asks Joe how much it will cost.
Joe immediately says, '$9,500.'
'$9,500?' Obama asks, stunned. 'But you said it's an easy repair!'
'Yes, but what I do is charge a lot more to my clients who make more than $250,000 per year so I can fix the plumbing of everybody who makes less than that for free,' explains Joe. 'It's always been my philosophy. As a matter of fact, I lobbied government to pass this philosophy as law, and it did pass earlier this year, so now all plumbers have to do business this way. It's known as 'Joe's Fair Plumbing Act of 2008.' Surprised you haven't heard of it, Senator.'
In spite of that, Obama tells Joe there's no way he's paying that much for a small plumbing repair, so Joe leaves.
Obama spends the next hour flipping through the phone book looking for
another plumber, but he finds that all other plumbing businesses listed have gone out of business. Not wanting to pay Joe's price, Obama does nothing.
The leak under Obama's sink goes unrepaired for the next several days.
A week later the leak is so bad that Obama has had to put a bucket under the sink. The bucket fills up quickly and has to be emptied every hour, and there's a risk that the room will flood, so Obama calls J oe and pleads with him to return.
Joe goes back to Obama's house, looks at the leaky pipe, and says 'Let's
see - this will cost you about $21,000.'
'A few days ago you told me it would cost $9,500!' Obama quickly fires back.
Joe explains the reason for the dramatic increase. 'Well, because of the 'Joe's Fair Plumbing Act,' a lot of rich people are learning how to fix their own plumbing, so there are fewer of you paying for all the free plumbing I'm doing for the people who make less than $250,000. As a result, the rate I have to charge my wealthy paying customers rises every day.
'Not only that, but for some reason the demand for plumbing work from the group of people who get it for free has skyrocketed, and there's a long waiting list of those who need repairs. This has put a lot of my fellow plumbers out of business, and they're not being replaced - nobody is going into the plumbing business because they know they won't make any money. I'm hurting now too - all thanks to greedy rich people like you who won't pay their fair share.'
Obama tries to straighten out the plumber: 'Of course you're hurting, Joe! Don't you get it? If all the rich people learn how to fix their own plumbing and you refuse to charge the poorer people for your services, you'll be broke, and then what will you do?'
Joe immediately replies, 'Run for president, apparently.'

Shouldn't you be, if not merry, at least grateful that our government made the choice to fight terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan, instead of down at your local mall? That you and your family haven't been maimed or killed because we were too "noble" to preempt an attack, instead of responding to an attack? That you've been kept so comfortable that you feel justified in griping about every single thing that George Bush has or hasn't done?

Well if it had been Kerry that had been in office the last four years and done EXACTLY what Bush has done.. you, being a Bush/Republican/McCain supporter wouldn't have something to say about that?
(okay..back to ignoring political posts until tomorrow!)

Actually I feel justified in gripping because I have free speech. And Bush didn't give me that. As for the war in Iraq I think he (Bush) led us into a minefield of political issues we shouldn't be embroiled in. And I don't think it had very much to do with terrorism. I haven't said one thing bad about the war that's going on in Afganistan and I'm very glad our counter terrorism efforts have been so far successful as far as protecting us here. But I think we've expended a lot of resources and lost a lot of good men and women in Iraq and are pretty much in the middle of a civil war. Just my opinion. I'm not attacking yours but I certainly don't agree with many of the policies of Bush. Evidently I'm not alone in this thought seeing as how Bush's approval rating has dropped to 20% at last check.
I can't answer that, lovesfortune. I think I would have understood the reasoning if it had come from him, but really don't know. I can be pretty sure I would have respected the same resolve to prevail in the war, not give up, not strengthen our enemies, had it been him. But, Kerry, geez, he's just so arrogant and unlikeable to me, I'm not sure if I would have been fair.

I know for sure I would not be looking for any and all bad news to report, hoping we lose, or minimizing any successes we have lest Kerry appear successful.
Because above all, I'm on our side.
"I can be pretty sure I would have respected the same resolve to prevail in the war, not give up, not strengthen our enemies, had it been him."
That "pretty sure" sounds wishy washy, and when it comes to the war and that mission, I'm not. So, I'll clarify. I can be SURE.
