Wow, that was actually better than I thought! What a zing, what a thrill, I had such a grin on my face! I don't think I felt so good voting since my first time in 1984.

How'd it go for all of you?

You had to mail in, WB, right? No choice? That's too bad, I know you said you didn't like it--hope Tuesday at the polls never disappears completely.

I had no lines--walked right in and voted--aimed at dead center between the before work and lunch crowds since I'm working at home today.

Hopefully I will be able to say in about 2 hours when hubby gets home. I'm excited. More excited than last time I voted for President. But I've been a fan of the man I'm voting for for quite some time... so it makes it that much better!

Yeah - I hate the vote by mail our county has gone to.

Nothing beats going in and signing the big list, and going to your little booth and sticking it in the machine yourself. Up until this election I was still voting in another county that still does it by hand, but I finally got it transfered down here.

I waited in line for an hour Friday, not too bad by current standards (especially with people two counties over waiting in lines over 6 hours long). The woman in charge was a bit insane (okay, a lot insane) about how straight the lines were, how close we were to the person in front of us, how much we fidgeted, how quickly we moved forward when the line moved... etc, etc, etc.

A guy kept getting into trouble for his cell phone ringing. You're not allowed to talk on them inside the building... but he didn't turn his off and she started screaming at him and two county cops in the U shaped line were standing infront of me, and they turned around (facing away from the crazy woman, towards me) and turned off their cell phones. It's bad when the cops are scared! The woman behind me in line and I made fun of her the whole time. :D

Well, you know what happens when you give some people just a little bit of power.

The bit about the cops is hilarious. :D

Never been in a county that has those horrendous lines we see elsewhere. I guess with early voting taking place all week, why isn't it better?

Bob votes absentee, kind of hard not knowing where and when you'll be come election time.
I just check when I go in and see if his absentee shows, all but one time Ive questioned it.
I am sooo surprised I got in and out as fast as I did. There were people coming and going, so the constant flow was good. I was out of there in 10 to 15 minutes. More coming in as I was voting and leaving, just a nice flow, but more than Ive ever seen where I vote.
So, I left the house, went to vote, went up the street and mailed Loves package, and got home in less than 45 minutes...wow, that was nice and easy.

I took advantage of our early voting. First time I went there were about 20 people in line, I did not expect that at all. I went back last week and waited for about 10 minutes. Hubby voted today, it took him an hour because they only had one voting machine working.

ALOK, that is funny about the lady making the lines straight. Never seen anyone like that in all my years of voting.

Yep, I am stoked. Hubby and I woke up at 4 am and couldn't get back to sleep, we are both so excited. I am thrilled at the turnout, a lot of first time voters. I hope everyone gets a chance to vote who wants to. I am sure I will be just as happy when the results come in.:p

Here in GA (especially in Gainesville, that I know of) we're having major issues with voter fraud (especially with illegal immigrants)... it's really ridiculious. So that's slowing down a lot of lines... the sheer number is a huge problem around here. Last election my county barely had lines at all - my Dad went to vote this morning and it took 45 minutes! I didn't know that many people lived in this county... much less could go to that particular place to vote!

mom2 - She was insane... and not from 'round here (if you know what I mean). She was really frustrated by everyone talking to everyone around them, apparently we were supposed to be quiet. :innocent: But when you're stuck in a room with a bunch of people - half of whom you're related to, the other half you know or know their kids/parents, what else can you do?

Oh now that is ridiculous. Voting should be fun, the atmosphere at the polls should be serious but there is nothing wrong with comaraderie. For some of us that live in a rural area it is an opportunity to visit with our neighbors and find out how "momma an dem" is doing..............

Yes, I was humbled and honored to cast my vote about an hour ago. It's a sacred privilege that I will never take for granted, and I am deeply grateful to live in a country that is a democracy and respects the rule of law.

I truly cannot understand people who are eligible to vote in the U.S., but choose not to do so. The only thing I can think of is that they don't fully understand what "Of the people, by the people, and for the people" means. It gives me chills just thinking about it, and sometimes I'll get a tear or two in my eye after voting. It really means that much to me.

I'm wearing my little sticker all day and very proud of myself for voting. It wasn't always a priority.

Filling out the ballot took far longer than anything else. I walked in and out of the church just 1 1/2 blocks from our house. Total time was probably 15 minutes.

I voted two weeks ago. I'm lucky that we have early voting here. It was nice. We've gone completely computerized here in our county so I enjoyed watching the polling helpers help the older people who have never even touched a computer in their life. I can't imagine how many hundreds of times they will have to explain the procedure during the course of the election.

yep I walked in this AM voted got on a bus and went to work, took ten minutes.
but WB why do you think there only two counties in Washington state which are not mail in??? the largest population blocks and the only two which the democrats control. remember it was those two counties "finding" all those ballots -3 weeks- after the election which gave us the governor we have now! hummmm
