Dakota got a present in the mail yesterday!

Well, I've been wanting to get him the SMX Air Ride ortho saddle pad but haven't had the money. But, much to my surprise, it showed up on my doorstep yesterday via UPS!:eek:
I'm so excited!:D :banana: :D

I really like it on him and I think it's going to work out.:) I also got a black felt under liner pad that I'm considering using on him too. I'm thinking about cutting out a section of the pad where the bump is on his back so that the liner pad won't rub on it, then putting the SMX pad on top. Since it has extra padding along the spine and withers I don't *think* it would rub on the bump and irritate it. That's kind of my plan anyway. I haven't done it yet.


Here's some pictures of Kota all tacked up and modeling his new pad.:D I really like the red on him, eventually I'd like to have all his tack be red. But until then the red and blue goes together.:)

To the person who sent the saddle pads (you know who you are;)), Dakota and I thank you very much!:D


(Please ignore the way he's tied in these pics. I usually use a safety knot but he untied himself so I just threw the end of the leadrope over the hitching rail so it wasn't laying on the ground.)

Agreed. If people want to give you stuff for free, Lizzy, that's great. You work hard, you're very responsible and you and your ponies definitely deserve it. You don't just take, you also give back. I think that's great. :) I think anyone who thinks it's unfair that you're getting these gifts is out of line and if that's the attitude they have then I certainly think they don't deserve getting any free stuff.

I know there have been some people down on Dakota on her free stuff, but folks, dont read into things that are not there. I know you are sticking up for her, and I understand that.

But in almost ALL your threads you always say " I dont have the money" We all know you dont have the money and most of us dont. So I think people feel sorry of you. So, just keep it up everybody, and who knows that saddle pad could even have come from one of Dakota's family members because they all knew that was what she wanted. I also include how BROKE I am in many of my posts, its just venting the everyday frustration of wanting to do more for your horses than you can, even though they all have the food, shelter, and love they need.

See, this I dont get...the "Relax, people".
No one has attacked Dakota. Are people not allowed to talk to her even if they arent attacking her. FW made a statement, and was not attacking her at all, she was just saying. Why are people defending what dosnt need defended. I really think people are reading into what is written. Im just sitting her reading and thinking wow, they are just saying, not attacking.
Not to make her feel bad, cause I have no issue with it. Heck I even know who sent her the stuff, so what. I do see why others get upset when they do, I guess thats why I can sit back and see who is attacking and who isnt. Dakota does seem to get alot of free stuff(COOL!!), yet the others that do, do not post about it, so all others see is Dakota getting free stuff. Anyway, I hope this helps and does not piss any one off.

WB, if these people are just saying something, not to be taken as an attack, then they get it brought to the attention as if it were wrong, I can see why they would be defensive. Me, Im just trying to stay neutral. I dont see and issue here with what the others have said.

Yep, very red! And I like it!:D Eventually I want all his tack to be red, like his boots and breast collar too.:)
I rode him in it last night for about an hour and a half. He seemed comfortable in it, and this morning the bump on his back isn't any bigger. So I think it's going to work!:clap: I haven't decided if he needs the liner pad under it for more padding. If I do use it I'm going to cut out a section so it's not rubbing on the bump.

You're right- they're not involved in my horse life much, if at all. They don't really want anything to with it, they're not horse people and don't want to be.

He looks so cute in red. I use black on my Sarge because I can't find another color that looks good on him, I've tried but nothing looks right so black it is for him! I have a bay too and he also has black or Forest Green. Delta looks good in most colors but red stands out. It's funny my friend's son has a black horse who is almost Delta's twin so when he tries a color on if it looks good on him I will get that same color for her, saves me money since I'm not buying something that won't look good on her! I really want the red stuff though but she needs to order it.

Dakota is a cutie and the color really works for him. Hope the pad is comfortable for him, it sounds like it is though. I need to get better pads for my boys, Delta has a good one but the boys just have regular pads. Sarge also needs a new saddle that doesn't roll off of him, he's so round!

The pad seems to be working very well for him so far!:D I've ridden him in it three times now and the bump hasn't gotten any bigger. Before it would swell up after a ride and take a few days to go back down but it's not doing that with this pad. He still has a small lump there on his back but I don't think it's going to go away completely, it's been the size it is now for quite a while.

That is so awesome that the pad and saddle are working for Dakota. I felt that the saddle had pretty good spine clearance, and the Cordura skirt puts less pressure behind the cantle - and the Ortho Sport Pads really rock, they give total spine clearance and help distribute the weight evenly over the whole back. My Arabian Taz had similar conformation and a lump on his spine, too, right behind the saddle, that is waht made me buy the Ortho Sport pad in the first place. SInce then I have used it to 'fix' saddle fit problems with other horses.

I think it is just wonderful that you have this combination for Dakota, and he does look good in it, too!
