So I got my second job and it gives me $400 extra bucks a month. I leased out Yogi and was told I would get free lessons. I have decided that I want to try a local open show or two by the end of the summer/fall time. I think it would be possible for like western pleasure or something of that nature. I have a black felt hat, black saddle blanket and blanket liner, my saddle has no silver but will work just fine, I have a plaid button up shirt with some silver threads, and some jeans and boots. I think all I would really need would maybe be a nicer headstall and a bit, but can anyone else think of something I would need. I have always wanted to show, and I think at local open shows, Yogi and I could do fairly well, but it's mostly for fun!

Riding gloves to match usually are a nice touch. Black would do nicely with your color scheme, and they're not very expensive.

I have these gloves in white for dressage:

They're cheap but they're really comfortable and do the job. I wear them when also when it's chilly out so I have something to keep me warm that can also grip the reins.
Good luck with the showing!

Thanks guys! I don't wanna look too overdone, but I have been to open shows and I know that there is a little bit of everything, so I decided I wanna look in between!

Great that makes 3 people possibly showing this year. I am looking into showing more trail competitions until Cutter does better in her training with Stick. Her attitude right now makes it not a possability in showing her because she isn't relaxed yet.

I'm glad there are a few of us getting into showing! I hope Yogi can be calm enough and listen and not be a butt. I am shooting for Western Pleasure and trail, but we have to get over the scary foot bridge, lol. He freaks out, but I just don't want to overload either of us and I am a western gal and don't have any English stuff, maybe that will come later. I am not good at remembering stuff either for showmanship or any of that. Little steps!

I agree. This will be my first year at showing as well. I am hoping to show in my first show around the end of July.

I don't think we will be ready by then, but it's possible. The county I work in and go to school in has shows and there at like 2 in the afternoon and there 5 bucks a class, so it works for me! I think I am starting training on Saturday.

Same to you! Maybe we should start training threads as we go this summer?
