Today hubby took off work early to get some last minute stuff done outside before the snow flies.

We did ALOT with the horse's winter pasture. Moved two of the big square hay bale feeders around to better situate them and give everyone enough room. Then we walked the pasture making sure everything is safe and good to go. Then we moved another hay feeder out to the big field (where we added on) that has a cover on it. We put it on a trailer, took some manuvering, but we did it! Now it's a portable hay feeder that we will be able to throw small bales in and it if it doens't get eaten right away, the cover will protect it.

There is still some stuff I want to move around by the end of this week. Spools the horses use as stratching posts, etc.

But it felt good to get so much done!

I know what you mean! I'm pretty sure I'm ready- but when it comes to fencing, unfortuantely, you can't just check it and wave goodbye at it until spring, lol!

Luckily, my pasture's pretty small- not hard to find trouble spots. For the most part, my fences do better in the winter than in the summer, anyway.

Glad you got so much done. Lovesfortune! Sounds like quite a bit in one day.

Yeah, we are still having fencing issues, but we talked with my father in law tonight and hopefully this weekend we will be able to get another 2 strands up around the winter pasture. we've had issues this week with a few of the little cows getting out AGAIN... after we thought we had fixed it, but they are clever!

Yup, you've been busy.
Cool that you can put squares in that one now. Good idea!!

Yeah. Tell me about it! And since the winter pasture/barn etc. are at our house (we bought the old farmhouse from his parents) everyone thinks they are our cows. It drives me nuts. We have the wire, the posts are already in. Just have to put it together with some time. I'll gladly go out there and fence for as long as it takes until no more escape!

Thank goodness it's just the little ones crawling under the lowest wire.

That's the easiest to fix, anyway!

I'll have to take pictures of it. I've never seen anything like it before. It was lower to the ground before for cows, but we've never used it. Hubby said it we made it taller the horses would be able to use it and we could spread everyone out a little. Plus, now I can toss down some bales from the barn and take them out myself instead of waiting for hubby for my father in law to get the tractor and move the HUGE square bales out.
