I totally can't figure you out, Horseless. I've tended to think of you as a funny court jester just out to have fun. Perhaps though I'm overestimating you badly.

Why Arrow, even court jesters can have an opinion that's serious....however, it does seem strange. Come on Horseless, SAY SOMETHING FUNNY!!! We really need it right now.

Whoa there! I live on the west half and I didn't vote for Obama...and I'm not moving, I won't, I won't, I won't! Lol.

You know, I figure we lived through 8 years of Bill Clinton, the Dems lived through 8 years of George Bush and now we have to endure 4 (hopefully only 4;)) years of Obama. Nothing is going to make everyone 100 percent happy. The great thing about this country is that we'll get a chance to change things again in 4 years if we don't like it.

Sorry I didn't clarify myself! I wasn't saying that everyone on the west coast voted for him. I was saying we'd use the west side to put all those that did vote for Obama out there, and the ones who voted McCain could use the east side. Sorry about that!
I wasn't trying to implement in anyway that everyone out west voted for Obama.

Starkitten:
I wasn't trying to say it to be rude. I was simply saying it as a legimate question. I can sometimes be confusing in the way I word something. It can especially be taken out of context when your reading something from a forum, email, etc. It's alot easier to "hide" behind a computer and type out things then it is to do it face to face with someone. I just wanted to be sure I was getting my illustration across. I'm sorry if it came across rude.

I know the nation will not be divided like that, so no need to worry about that. I was saying I wish it could be. Just thinking outloud, though I should know by now not to do that. I might step on toes.

Sundays Man

Ya know, maybe we should divide our nation. My dad suggested that and I think it sounds like a good idea. Have the west half have Obama as their President (Yuck...I even hate the sound of calling him that), and have the east half have McCain as their President. Will give you 2 yrs. with Obama and see how many people are wanting to come across our borders and be under McCain. No neither one of them are the best, but I surely know out of the two who I think would be better.

We tried that back in the 1860's.....it didn't turn out well. But I see where you're coming from. I think we all need to pull together and "encourage" the new administration to do the right things in a way that we all agree on.

As long as our gripes are kept here. I hate it when celebs go to other countries and bad mouth our country or our president.

Me and my sibs might have fought constantly at home, but outside of it, we stood together. You took on one, you took on all six.

I don't like him and I probably will never refer to him as "my president", but I will defend the fact that he was elected by the majority.

Ya know Tategram, you're right. I haven't looked at it that way, but all we are doing here is having a "family squabble". That makes it all better.

The seperating I'm talking about wouldn't cause a war.
I'm saying simply, put all the people who voted for Obama on the west half of the nation and all the people who voted for McCain on the east half of the nation. I'm not saying let's have a fight about it. I'm saying we'll let both Obama and McCain treat each half of the nation as if it was the entire USA. Then see how things went.
Is that to confusing of an illustration?

OOO, OOO, Can Diane and I go to Montana!!!!???? Please!!!???

Obama, good or bad, was elected because he is a black man.

I reject this statement. If his platform wasn't strong enough to attract tens of millions of voters who vote based upon the issues, he never would have made it to the nomination of the Democratic Party. No way.

I see what your saying about the 1860's, I'm just meaning without war or anything. Just pick up the O supporters and place them in one area, and the McCain supporters and place them in one area.
I wouldn't mind encouraging if I knew it'd do some good. But I'm afraid it won't.

OOOPPPS, sorry, I voted for McCain. I might take a chance on Obama to live in Montana though, yeah, that would work. I could hunt and ride for a living and raise chickens and......Hmmmm, who cares who's president if you're self sufficient????? If you want my money.....come and find me. LOL.

Pinky I don't want to let your post go unanswered, I really appreciate your perspective on all this. Poignant observations, all of them.
It's okay WB :). I wouldn't have minded if no one had answered. I realise and appreciate that as a teenager (and not even an American) I do not belong in this forum. But I don't mind what people think, really.

Pinky has it worse off than the USA, so it seems.
Unless there is a counrty called Pinky (I can dream, I guess;)) this doesn't make sense to me. I never said I, personally, was worse off than the USA - I have a home, haet and running water, I'm better off than some people already.
I was just trying (and failing, clearly) to make the point that even though a guy you don't like has been elected it doesn't make it the end of the world. The earth will continue to spin and the water will continue to run - the four horsemen of the apocolypse will not appear just because Obama is president.

Maybe I just don't get it because I'm not American - but I never thought people could react to a vote in this way. Over here, if someone you don't like and didn't vote for gets elected, too bad, try again next time.

Maybe I wrong (actually, probably) but I just don't understand some of the reactions. I'll be honest, I was supporting John McCain until he chose Sarah Palin. I don't have anything against her; I just haven't listened to her enough to get it. I wasn't supporting Obama because I don't agree with his policies. I wasn't supporting him because of his colour. Heck, I wasn't supporting anyone in the end!

If you don't want to call Obama your president, don't. It's still a free country (I believe; unless something has happened in the last 10 minutes).

My point exactly. I have the right (last I checked I did) to call him my president, or not. And thanks to all the men and women who have died for me, and sacrificed so much, so that I could have freedom (including freedom of speech), I will not be calling him Mine.

The ones in the House of Commons are nutty :). They're (mostly) fat old men with no modern ideals.

Thanks :). I meant in the politics forum though:cowboy:. As I was told by a teacher today - "You can't discuss politics! First you're a girl, second you're a teenager, third you wear makeup. Go back to talking about boys or whatever it is you kids do these days." My friends and I were having a discussion about Obama etc. and what would happen now (a laugh a minute we are ;)) and he just came up to us and said that! it was on our own time and had nothing to do with him.

What are we supposed to do? The country's in the hands of Obama and the Dems right now. If I could I'd leave for Australia right now. Your seeing it in Michigan right now. Houses for sale, everyone's getting out while they still can. Someday soon that's likely to be America. I just hope that we don't all end up suffering if this was a bad decision.

Wow - I've still got several pages to go, but wanted to take a breather and respond to this.

Am I getting this straight? You are trying to blame the foreclosures in MI on the Dems? That all falls under the big 3 going down the tank. Why are they going down the tank? Because they focused on big trucks and SUVs and when the gas went up - people stopped buying them. Sales dropped, and they couldn't switch gears fast enough into the little car market. Plunging sales means dropped jobs. No jobs means no money for house payments, which equates to foreclosures.

Its also effecting here in KY. We are a Tier I and Tier II supplier for trim and such to the auto companies. Our sales of dropped so bad that we are running at 50% capacity than we were last year - that means layed off people and unemployment (with more expected here in the next 2-3 months). That then just adds to that vicious circle of no money to buy new things by these people as this expands out tier I, tier II, tier III and beyond and even sales people. That means no jobs, no money to buy new cars, so now that OTHER car sales are dropping - such as toyota that was initially doing good. Well their sales are down now too.

Vicious circle. I do not envy our new president the mess he is being handed going into office. All I can do is be hopeful.

And to those that are saying some (yes only some - many of us had valid resons for voting for Obama that went well beyond the color of his skin) voted for Obama due to the color of his skin, well that is no different than those that voted for McCain/Palin because Palin is a woman. I know 2 people who voted for them due to that reason. If I know 2 at my small company, I'm sure there were more out there than that. So what is the difference?

I have worked with the elderly and I am handicapped. But I don't want an older person in office right now. My nephew thinks it is horrible that a president has to be 35 years old to even RUN for president! He is right! Since when do you have to be 60+ to have enough experience? Why not 5 or 10 years of work experience? Why not be president when you are young enough to enjoy it?? I have not read everything in this thread yet, hopefully I get thru it all...but.....

Seriously, I did not vote for Obama. I do not think he is qualified or experienced enough to be the President of the United States at this time, with all that he will face. I appreciate that some of you do AND I greatly respect that.

However....

I could not stand the disrespect all the Americans have given to "their" President over the past years. So, I for one, will not do that to President Obama. I am very disappointed about his election, but I will give him the respect he is due as the President of this Wonderful Country. I hope he can accomplish some of the things he wants to do for America..but then again, I hope some of the things he can not!!!

Perhaps we should ask a Canadian, especially a Canadian over the age of 50. You would not get very high ratings there. Everyone on this forum will be at that age one day, God willing. It might be worth listening to them for their opinion. Are you kidding me? Can you say Murtha or some of the other ancient Senators and Reps that have been being re-elected year after year. Here's Murtha approaching 90 years old, calls his people racist, rednecks, etc and gets re-elected. Tell me there isn't some lead in the water up there and all over this country. Did you see the little joke I made (yesterday some time) about how you found that there was a month wait to get in the hospital when you got injured, so you Sugars helped you make a sling from a feed sack and you tied it up with baling twine while ChiseKoji scoured the countryside for one extra aspirin?

That's about how you hear many people in the US respond when we say something complimentary about Canada's healthcare system. :) It really gets heated fast.

Lol, no I didn't! Where was this? hahaha
EDIT: OMG, I found it and replied! LOL

Is this our new American Flag?

I like it. I too will cast my support for our president, cautiously, and with expectations.

I reject this statement. If his platform wasn't strong enough to attract tens of millions of voters who vote based upon the issues, he never would have made it to the nomination of the Democratic Party. No way.

JackieB--he never would have been nominated in the first place by his party if he was white. That's the point I was making. Not with his inexperience! Hilary would have gotten the nomination. And, how do you think we're going to pay for national health care that Obama has promised--higher taxes!

Before you call me disrespectful of the elderly... do you want a woman president? Statistically, would McCain have lasted until he was 76? Could he have done it all in 4 years? What would his chances have been of being re-elected?

I have worked with the elderly and I am handicapped. But I don't want an older person in office right now. My nephew thinks it is horrible that a president has to be 35 years old to even RUN for president! He is right! Since when do you have to be 60+ to have enough experience? Why not 5 or 10 years of work experience? Why not be president when you are young enough to enjoy it?? The old farts have run this country WAY too long if you ask me...lets give the young guy a chance and see what happens.

do you want a woman president? I personally don't mind if it's a woman or a man, as long as either one can run the Country like it should be. I think the biggest problem with America, is it has strayed to far from God. This country was founded on Biblical principles, and was based around God. Does anyone remember that this country is "One Nation Under God"? Many years have passed and this Country has forgotten God. After 9/11 it seemed people woke up for a little while, because they needed God. They felt they needed to pray, and they needed help. It was convinent for them. We shouldn't go to God when it's convinent for us, and because we need him. We should go to him all the time. Our Country should be based off him now, 20 yrs ago, 20 yrs. forward, etc. It should be like they intended for it to be when this Country was started.
Statistically, would McCain have lasted until he was 76? That's not for you or anyone else to be concerned about. Check the obituaries and see if anyone younger or older then 76 died. We all are appointed our time by God. He's the only one who knows when and how we'll die. No where's is it set in stone that you die by 76, or any other age. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. Each day should be lived like it was our last. Some of us could grow up and be 100 when we die, others will die much younger. It's not for us to decide. No matter how long he would've lasted, it would've been was he able of running the Country like he should. Yes, I think he would've been.
Could he have done it all in 4 years? No one knows that either. I'm not even going to try to see that far ahead. I will say that it will probably take anyone longer then 4 yrs. to fix it. It's not something that has gotten this way in such a short time.
What would his chances have been of being re-elected? Depends, don't know that either. What's Obama's chances of being re-elected? Until you see what he does or doesn't do you won't know. He( and any other politican) can pull the wool over your eyes and have you believe what he wants until he gets in office, and then things change. Power can go to your head.

I dont' think anyone has said that you have to be 60+ to have enough experience, unless I missed something somewheres. I personally don't think anyone younger then 35 should be able to run for President. Any younger and I think they'll be very immature odds are, and it would probably be a disaster. I personally think that older is better when it comes to something like running a country. I'm not saying older then Methuselah, but I'm saying old enough to be experience and have learnt something in your time on this earth. It's not just running a local store down the road, it's an entire Nation.
I just think that atleast by 35 your a little experienced and not so immature/childish.
Since most people are complaining about Sarah Palin not having experience, why would you want some "young guy" without experience given the "chance" to run something like this to "see what happens". Why would you want to chance that? I don't understand it.
Everyone (especially the news media) has done nothing but put Sarah Palin down for lack of experience, and for this and that, and tried to drag out every detail about her that they could. But had she have been a democrat and on that side, she would've been praised and applauded for carrying the load she is, and possibly being the first female Vice President.

It makes no sense to me.

The problem is people who call Obama names are "supposedly speaking" dirt, they are scum.
The problem is people who have called Bush and others names don't have anything said to them. They think it's okay. They can talk all they won't but no one should say a word bad to them or about their "person".

You never owned slaves and no blacks alive today were slaves themselves. Many like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc, have been on the front lines and know more about inequality than most of us. However, even they see that we are a different America today, ESPECIALLY, now. I have a layer of my being that's glad for the black population that they can now feel better represented through Obama. My fear is that it will have a negative effect and make demands for "restitution" a key issue when no one really has a claim to that, especially the younger ones. My fears may be unfounded and I hope so. I think that it's time we all, finally, see each other as just folks, neither black nor white nor purple or green, just folks. Sure the black community has a different view of life from the whites in this country, but so does the Native American community, the German American community, the Japanese American community, etc, etc. That's why our country is so great. I find that very, very debatable. I would never have voted for her in the primary for 2 reasons--1) Iraq war authorization vote, 2) she's too polarizing a figure--she'd never win in the general election. After the whole Kerry debacle, I vowed never to go against my gut again and vote for someone who o.k.ed Bush's use of force (good thing for Biden he's only the VP choice, not the Pres choice) in Iraq. And though I think that we need a woman President--Clinton is not who I'd pick to be the first--the backlash against her would be enormous. I would have voted for Obama if he'd been white. He seems like a true leader to me--he's going to bring people together--he's got a knack for that.

No, it's not okay, pandorasmom. People who do this might think it's OK, but it's not. We'll never get where we want to be as a society or as individuals if we accept that "What I said might not be the best, but what he said was worse". Lacyloo, the bible tells us to pray for our political leaders. Trust me, had it not been God's will for Obama to be president, he wouldn't be, and that's biblical too. If I were your dad, I would say I'm proud of you for your stance. I didn't vote for Obama, but he is still our leader now and we had better support him, pray for him and make peace. You might even go so far as to say that he is now God's annointed leader for America. No matter what people think or say, it's out of our hands now. It will be history that determines what kind of president he was. Let's pray for the best, but mostly for God's will to continue to be done.

How I wish my Dad thought like you. That in my eyes is a truely Christian statement and the first I've heard in a long time that I felt really stirred by. I have issues with religion that are to much for me to go into. I let a lot of "Christians" bring me down to a point where I didn't know what I believed in but I knew I didn't want to be like them. I wouldn't mind being like you. I'm working on my faith and it's a daily thing but I had to tell you that your statement gives me hope that not all Christians are going to bash me for being me. K but this is another topic entirely. Back to the subject!!

You might even go so far as to say that he is now God's annointed leader for America. No matter what people think or say, it's out of our hands now. It will be history that determines what kind of president he was. Let's pray for the best, but mostly for God's will to continue to be done.

That was a beautiful and gracious thing to say, Sundays Man. It's not the first time that I've heard you say something along these lines, either. You really live your Christianity by example and I commend you.

Now that's a statement I can get behind. Glad you loosened up your super glued hiney to say that. If everyone was so willing to accept the possibility that it might be okay and that our country is the greatest in the world (sorry folks from elsewhere, it's a fact ;) ) then we would all be able to stop the partisanship and try to work together for the good of us all.

Edited cause I misspoke while typing too quickly. Sorry Tiz, guess we don't agree. ;)

Oh come now. We're not in as bad of shape as Germany was at that time, nor are we as ignorant as those poor Germans were. Plus our government is set up to not allow that sort of thing to happen.

Don't be overly dramatic .
No you are right we aren't as bad as Germany was...thank the Lord for that. AND our government was set up so it wouldn't allow such things, but when it was set up there really wasn't any political parties. Now the democrats have such a majority in House and Senate Obama can pass pretty much whatever he wants. I wasn't a fan of either Obama or McCain but I would rather have McCain. I am not against Obama for his color, age, religion, but for his views. His ways of "fixing" America are very socialistic. Communism in theory sounds like a great thing, but look at history it doesn't work out. There will always be the poor and there will always be the rich. We will see how this plays out but one thing for sure is the pointing of fingers will continue. The one thing I am sure of is that the presidents are always given too much credit and too much blame.

God Bless America!

Sorry JackieB my bad, but they still have the House. The one good thing is something will get done...maybe it won't be the best for some people, but there will actually be a majority vote.

Treaty of Tripoli says no.

Change is good when talking about underwear & socks. Hope is good when talking about winning the lottery. But hope & change doesn't sound like a real good plan for running a Government. Sounds more like a receipe for disaster. Only time will tell.
Clinton had many oppurtunities to capture Bin Laden, he was just too busy chasing interns to concern himself with a little thing like International Terrorism. The Final Days of the Clinton Administration were spent pardoning all his buddies & stealing everthing that wasn't nailed down in the White House.

Frankly, I disagree. Sure, I change my socks and underwear when they get dirty, I hope I win the lottery (not really, that's more money than I'd see myself needing anyway) but I'll be damned if anyone would tell me that I should just accept the status quo and keep the government the same because that's the way it's always been. And what pray tell does your interest in my study of economics have anything to do with this? I got High Honors on the CalState Exams in Economics, you know. Plus, I even won the class contest where I had the most money (just did my homework every night to win my 'wage' and due to a pre-existing condition, I had the desk front and center of the teacher -- cheapest 'real estate' in the room.)

I don't particularly follow the stocks. I don't have 401K, I don't invest because I don't have the money to do so. I did hear that there was a pretty good spike yesterday, up 400 points and today's sell off dropped it down 200. But hey, your man Bush is still in the House, Obama hasn't even been President-Elect more than 24 hours. Nothing of his doing. You have to look at the 5-day for a better prediction.

rocknK, you don't even know me, and to say that wanting change for the sake of change as being moronic is pots and kettles as far as I'm concerned. Change is good! Without it, we'd all be insular and close-minded. I get to vote because of change, and I want to see change which is why I voted the way I did. It's my right just as it's your right to vote the way you did. We might not see eye to eye, but we've got our rights, and I don't see it as being moronic. I see wanting change for the sake of change as good. I like Obama's policies -- maybe not all of them as I could disagree on his stance with gay marriage, but hey, I think we need change, and that's why I got out my vote.

Good night! Sleep well! ;)

If things didn't change, us women would still be barefoot, pregnant, and stupid. We'd still have slaves. Children would still be working in factories at the age of 8-9 years old. We wouldn't have the FDA, the EPA, or any of the other gov't departments that keep industry honest and protect the public's welfare (I know, most of them don't do an excellent job, but it's better than nothing!).

The only thing that's guaranteed in life is change. If a nation/people/culture stagnates, it will eventually collapse. History has shown us that. If we don't grow and evolve, we are doomed to fail. Look at the Iraq war! It's a total failure for US. Had we just taken a moment and looked back at Vietnam, Korea, and other "minor" foreign conflicts that we have engaged in before, we could have done much smarter and more successfully.

Hey now, I've got more than two nickles to rub together. I've got two quarters! Lookit the shinyz! :p

I'm not poor, mind, but I'm not rich either. I don't make $250,000 a year, would I like to? Maybe. I'm still in college, getting my degree. I spent the last 2 years in national service (Americorps to be exact, teaching literacy in a low-income school) and they don't really give you a lot by way of a living stipend. But it was a really good experience for me because it helped me decide what I want to be in life. And that's a teacher. And right now, I'm working in the non-profit sector, it doesn't pay a lot, but I think I'm making a big difference in people's lives and helping them.

I respectfully disagree with you. I might not have much now, but I won't be losing much when change comes to Washington. I'll even be gaining, because in my opinion, Obama does care about the middle and lower classes. Wanna know how many times McCain has talked about the middle class in the debates. Zip. Zilch, nada. He even thinks people making $5,000,0000 is middle class. Thanks, but no.

I do believe that Obama is more of a centrist than certain people think he is. He will have to work with the Republicans to make the changes he wants to make, which means he won't go all wild and crazy socially liberal. But he will make things better for people like me, and like most of us.

I think you'll be shown to be correct about this, flair. I have followed Obama very closely during his campaign and looked some at his previous voting record, and I don't see where he has a propensity to want to simply hand over money to people who are unwilling to work for it. Thanks, JackieB. It was a monumental experience for me, working with kids and helping them learn to read, it changed my life and helped me find my life's calling. Now I just gotta finish up college to get my teacher's credential.

Right now, I'm working with a non-profit that provides a day program for developmentally disabled adults. It doesn't pay a whole lot, but I'm able to balance my budget and pay for my horse's board and have money left over for saving. I feel that I'm truly making a difference in peoples' lives and it's worth a lot to know that I've made them smile.

And I volunteer every Sunday afternoon at our local aquarium as a docent. It's a great teaching experience.

Well, not packaged that way! Of course not! In the grant they'll be called "hard to serve" or "chronic" with "barriers". And those seeking the money will make a good case. They always do, that's their whole career.

That's where that executive experience comes in, the ability to choose 'which' of the ten good causes on your desk you can take money from the people to pay for, and which you won't, not this time, because that money is important and needed by the tax payers too.

Even Republicans are not real good at this, because they're not heartless, and the list of good causes is endless.

How about this, now that the naysayers have done their job of getting Obama elected. Now that Bush and his goals are unfortunately running out of time and it's about to be put on Obama's shoulders, how about we stop trying to defeat us from within?

I support this country in its endeavors, not just when it's easy, but when it's hard. If we do it, I want to win it. I want to be proud of our mission, our troops, the risk takers who have to make really tough calls every day and I acknowledge that for every plan we have in Iraq, there is someone on the other side fighting against us. We will win some, but we will lose some, and those of us who are not involved, whose daily decisions have much less impact than those who are, may not always understand or have a role to play in helping to share the load, we may not have voted for the CinC, but we should at least not drag our feet and try to wear us down.

If Obama can end the war in Iraq with honor worthy of its cost I promise to give him my 100% support in seeing that through with the respect and patience it deserves. Not for his sake. I don't really care about him yet, but for the sake of every single one of our troops that is there with his ass on the line, today, just wanting to do right for their country. And for those who were lost, so that they are not lost in shame and second-guessing.

And because I am absolutely sick and tired of the ADHD media and it's equally short-sighted audience rotting our spirit with a slow drip of cynicism and negativity and I refuse to take part in it.

I'm on our side. America's side. And I'm really tired of those who are not. I question their motives... they hate a man, our president, and for that they would work to defeat our country. How selfish and stupid. The enemy you give hope and strength to is playing for keeps.

OK - Here's your new day dawning. Whether we like it or not we have a new president, and we're in Iraq, and much in the region depends on how that effort goes. Are we going to help OUR interests, or drag them down?

I love Margaret Thatcher. I wish we had a few like her here in the states. I was privileged to hear her speak once, and there are far worse role models for both of us :D

You do seem like her. :D Unfortunaltely, much of the mining generation don't like her - I was always taught that she was one of the best PMs (Prime Minister) that we've had :). Personally though, Churchill is my favourite - I love the speeches he gave during WW2.

I actually had it suggested to me that I should go into politics during a school debate ;). I'd be a bit draconian though. (Benifit fraud = punishable by life imprisonment/possibly death :D).

The leadership he provided during the Battle of Britain and his famous speeches will endure as some of the greatest words ever uttered in time of great peril. I get chills when I listen to him in those old recordings.

:D ROFL. ^^. You had me laughing with that one ;).

This is my favourite Churchill speech (Taken from 'Fight Them On The Beaches') -
"We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight them on the beaches
we shall fight them on the landing grounds,
we shall fight them in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

Don' t all leaders drink?
Rule number 5 - When you get rich people together you got to have booze.

The only difference is that they don't admit to drinking ;). We need a leader like Churchill again, really.

--------------------------------

Something I had in an email once...

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts.
H ere are the facts about the three candidates. Who would you vote for?

Candidate A.
Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologist
He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

Candidate B.
He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon , used opium in
college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C.
He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an
occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.

Which of these candidates would be our choice?

Decide first... no peeking, then scroll down for the response.

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Candidate B is Winston Churchill.
Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.

Winston Churchill.....no doubt a force to be reckoned with.......not only a boozer but a womanizer as well. And in his early days even partook of hashish........

HMMM......he will go down in history regardless of these characteristics.....very different than what the Americans would have thought of him if he was their leader during those times. But that is the difference from our Puritanical American ideals and that of European ones.

I am very glad that our members across the pond are checking in and giving us their view on things. I appreciate their opinions as we have all found out recently with the international financial crisis, we are indeed connected. In many ways that I will never understand, and personaly don't really want to, but I am interested, still.........

you add the total num. of digits in all three of his names and they do add up to 18, and when you divide them by three, his first middle and last name it does come out to be 666,
