HELLO I am new

Hello my name is courtney AKA HanzyBoysMom. I am an owner to a beautiful 4 yr old belgian draft horse gelding named Hanz. I rescued him 1 yr and 6 months ago. He was given to me due to supposidly having a hairline hip fracture when he was younger. Due to being hooked to a plow by himself. He was under weight. no ground manners. When i got him got the weight started then gradually started riding him then the training started. I will tell you what compared to now then to then he has learned so much.I use him for trail rides and as my theraphy horse. Over the winter i taught him how to stand with 1 and then both his front feet on a pedestal. Now we are in the process of learning how to smile. I am bascially training him myself. i use books as well as get some talking help or have someone come show me stuff. It is going good. As we all know young horses sometimes get lost in training or fight you along the way. The end result to me is what matters. I love my boy to death. Hope to get to know you all and you all get to know my horse and i along the way.

aww thanks so much for all the compliments He is a handsome boy. I have only owned him for a short time but he is the love of my life.

lisakaye if you have any questions or concerns i will help you the best i can. Hanz is my second rescued draft so i know alot. Just trail riding for now. When he is broke a lil more i eventually would like to see how he does with endurance rides as well as paper chases. Everything outside the ring that has no jumps we will do.

he will try anything once well sometimes depends on the mood he is in. He is young has alot of spirit and fight in him lately. Work him more he will calm down he was also just moved a week ago still adjusting and testing to see what he can get away with and he is finding that is not much. He has to realize that the same rules apply from one barn to another. he will get it just time patients and repitition. Gotta keep reminding myslef he is only a baby doing baby things.

I saw him and cried. I wasn't sure i wanted to do it again after just loosing my other draft 3 yrs before this. But he came over and liked me right away. he showed me he was mine by putting his head on my chest. Then he put his nose in my face. The lady looked at me and said he picked you cause he was never like that with anyone but me. He is a good boy but can also be quite a handful but i love him with all my heart we have such a good bond. We are teaching him some tricks now. He is learning how to smile. He gets on the pedestal with one or both front feet. With or without me on him. We started the see saw but he wasn't to happy with that. Everything i do with him is made for horses so it is strong and sturdy would never do anything that wasn't safe.
