After all of this weeks drama I decided to go out and work with Dallas. He hasn't been ridden for a few weeks because I have been working with Joe and Missy.
I started out lungeing him and he did fine, till I was asking him to change directions without stopping, then he got an attitude and would rear up and finally turn. I got after him for rearing :whack:.
One time he pulled pretty hard and I dropped the lunge line, I tried to grab it on the ground, tripped and fell.... I was thinking GREAT now he is going to freak out and take off running because the line would be chasing him.
I saw him take off out of the corner of my eye, then I picked myself up and looked around to see what part of the arena he would be bolting in. To my surpize, when I got up, he had only gone a few yards away from me and was stopped and turned FACING me! He was watching EVERY move I made and did not offer to run. I was totally shocked! So I went over to him and gave him a nice hug, picked up the lungeline and continued our session. He turned nicely EVERY time after that.
I was so proud of him. Usually if he has a chance to break away he bolts and gets freaked out by the rope chasing him. Not today.... he was a good boy! :happydance:
Then I saddled him up and we worked on some slow work for the upcoming gymkhana.
Over all I had a good time with him and was so proud. I love my theorpist! :)
