OMG Appylover will know what that looks like and feels like. im sorry
That sure is one puffy ankle! Broken or not (since I don't have xray eyes ;) ) ice is always good to reduce swelling. Then, even if it is broken and needed casted, the swelling will be down so a cast can be applied. At least that's what I'd do.

Just remember RICE
Rest - stay off of it until its not so painful.
Ice - 20 mins of every hour.
Compression- ace bandage
Elevation- prop it up higher than your heart
My ankle has been like that (or looked worse) many times and not once was it broken. Just bad sprains and once seriously torn ligaments. Not saying that yours isn't broken but whether it is or not, you should do the RICE.

If you can't put your weight on it then you should go and have xrays done. You need to get it looked at.

Thanks miata.
I would ice it and get to a doc. I can only tell you it is not as bad as my broken ankle was (joint shattered and non existant), but the puffiness is concerning so ice and get to the docs ASAP!

Glad its not broken.
I tore a ligament in my ankle once, took 6 months for the pain to go away 100%. I kept forgetting not to try and stop doors from shutting with my foot...ouchy.
