I have found a forever home for Dee. She will be going to Taylor's owner. I am happy that I found her a home where she can be herself. I am still going to train her for a rider. He is also thinking of buying Maggie from me. I gave him Dee because it is more important to me to find her a good loving home than for someone to buy her from me. I am cutting my herd maybe even more. Financially I can take care of 5 horses just not 7. I just wanted to share that I have found my friend a forever home and it is a signed contract between me and Taylors owner that she will never be sold. If for some reason they need to find her another home I have the first choice of getting her back.

I think it was a good decission! It shows you really care about her.
It's better to have less horses and make sure they get proper care.

Yep and the thing is I have 10.5 acres but he has like 45 acres. All fenced in and she can run on all of it. They ride some. The best thing is she will get all of the care she needs and I don't have to worry if I have the money to have it done now. I can go and see her as often as I want to. I know she will be happy there. He has a nice set up and a great barn as well.

Hey Caddo. I'm really glad you found Dee a good home where she can be herself. It's wonderful that you've worked out that contract so that if she is sold, she will go back to you. That's really great and responsible of you, a lot of people aren't willing to do that. Good job :)
I did notice that you said "Financially I can take care of 5 horses just not 7.", though, and aren't you actively breeding? (I don't know if you have any pregnant mares right now, but I know you just had an adorable foal, and don't you breed every year or two?). Anyway, I just thought that maybe if you held off on breeding for a few years you could get yourself in a better position financially, and you wouldn't have to keep saying goodbye to your horses... you could work with them longer :)
Just a suggestion, I really don't mean to be offensive. I just didn't know if you had considered that yet.
Congrats again on finding a great home for Dee!

I'm so glad you were able to find a forever home for Dee! She was the one I was most worried about you being able to find a good home.

Yes we do breed but have decided that we aren't until I get these five horses started in their training. PT will have one more for us I don't know when. As of right now nothing has been bred back and nothing will until all of my fences are complete and I can spend the money to breed and keep the resulting foal. Maggie was always for sale. The horses that we are keeping are PT, QT, Sky, Caddo, and Cutter. PT will be my only broodmare. Once we retire her from breeding then I might purchase another mare. I don't look for me to do this until 4 or 5 years down the road. I have found out that 7 is not my lucky number and I am spread thin with time to spend with my horses. I always feel like someone is being left out. I can handle of em easily but 7 is to much. Thanks guys. I honestly thought that some people might be mad at me because of this. I did want to keep her forever but I hate not being able to do what needs to be done except little by little. I am so happy that she is going somewhere to be loved and eventually rode as well.

I don't think anyone is mad because you found her a good forever home, and are willing to take her back if anything happens. :) Good luck as you start training with the other horses!
