We bought a decorative cane in Jamacia and are trying to make sure we will be able to get it back. We asked the guy and he said he sells them all the time and people carry them on. I also asked the front desk and he said it should be fine. I don't want to get to the airport though and have them try and take it away. It won't fit in our checked baggage. I have e-mailed delta but they said they would respond within 30 days...That does me no good at all. I don't have a phone here so I can't call.

Does anyone know if we will be able to take it on? If not how do we get it back?

Yep, mail it. I shipped something back from Australia and it made it safe and sound about the same time I did.

Mailing it is your best bet unless it is the size of a normal cane. They may make you store it elsewhere on the plane but old folks use them all the time..

Yah, a cane... supposing it is more or less the same size and shape as a regular walking cane, should be no problem to carry on. And... in a pinch it's a useful weapon to disable any jihadis that might make a fuss. :)
