Work Comp update

Went to the Dr on Monday and was released back to full duty.
I am not strong enough to pull full duty and talked with my boss about it. She has nothing for me right now(slow at work) and when she puts me on the schedule she will work me in slowly.
Dr gave me a new script and said I Will need it when I go back.

I will be calling my work comp lady today to find out where we go from here.
I dont know if I should go to the unemployment office or not.
Im kind of inbetween right now. Not sure what to do.

I do have range of motion, just not strength, and I will continue my therapy at home.

Ill update more as I find out more.

It would be nice if WC and your doc and you could be on the same page. I just love how agencies seem to think there's a set timetable for things.

If you are released to work you should probably apply for unemployment. It does take a while, so the sooner the better.
If you apply for unemployment make sure not to discuss any physical issues. Just tell them you have a full release from a doctor and can work. Otherwise they will have to research. I made that mistake, mentioned my wrists - they "researched" for 4 months! Eventually they gave me chunk of money, because I was getting paid, but not really getting the money until they were done "researching". 4 months without any pay is uncomfortably long time.

Right, gotcha on that. Im one of those, tell what needs told and thats enough. It took me forever to teach my husband that, and still sometimes I have to catch him.

I just talked with my work comp lady. I asked her about unemployment, finding another job cause my boss dosnt have anything for me, and she said to give UE a try, and that finding another job does not interfere with my settlement.
She said that she is waiting final reports from Drs and she will call me with a settlement offer. I will also get notice of the hearing date. At the hearing is where we sit down and discuss everything and finalize the paperwork and settlement.

I think right now you are better off on unemployment, than trying to find a job. Even though you have dr's release, you'd have pretty hard time working with that shoulder. I'm sure you'll be hurting for a while longer. Better to take it easy.

On edit: I'd apply for the unemployment today. Even if you are planning to look for a job. You can stop filing the weekly claims at any time. You can do it online. There are few questions to be answered and than you get a letter in the mail letting you know if you were accepted or not. Takes just few minutes.

Well, that question was on a different site...but a valid one the same.
I did file on line, we will see where it goes from there.
I do have an idea of what I might look for and it is light work. No more labor jobs for me. My body just dosnt handle it any more.

I think I get one more check from last week, I think. Ill know tomorrow when I check the mail. I will call the unemployment office tomorrow to see if they have received my app and let them know what is going on. I shouldnt have to look for work as of yet. Im not fired or layed off as far as I know. I just dont have my shift back due to business being slow. My boss even said she will be calling people off the schedule its so slow. If I am correct, I should be on the schedule before the new hires beings I was gone on W/C. I should not of lost my position.

I hope not and I don't think by law you can. I don't know. I would most definitely call the unemployment office and see. That is great news though that they have released you back to work.

Ohhh I hope you don't get yourself stuck not working and not getting any pay either. I think you need to be fired, laid off or have your work cut certain amount of days. If they will think you may get called back to work at any time they will "investigate" and it will take them for ever.

I'm glad that you are feeling better that you got the okay to go back, but I'm sorry that there isn't anything to go back to right now. I hope you get that UE figured out and everything.

I stopped in at work, after my last PT session, and Im on the clock. I work M, Thur, n Fri, the "4" hr shift(ends up about 5 hrs).
My boss said she would call me when she put me on the schedule, she didnt.
Im also wondering, as my co-worker and I skimmed through the books, if Im not just put there for looks. Knowing the numbers of dogs vs employees, I dont see me on the schedule for a reason. Hmmmmm. She has been known to put people on the schedule and then call them off the day before, knowing she was going to do just that. Im not saying she is doing this. We will see. Ive worked there since dec 03, three yrs, left during the drug issue, came back over a yr ago, nothing has changed. I think that is why I feel uneasy about me going back.
Like I said, we will see.

Hope that your strenght builds up soon & I know you will get there.

Pooeyy that Boss doesn't have work for you yet, but may be a good thing ~ giving you time to build that strength back.

I knew it....I got called off from work on Monday, and not sure how Thursday is looking either. Maybe Friday but who knows.
