Well Trouble has everything....WONDERFUL feet, shiny coat, great confirmation....the only thing that I would like to alter is her mane and tail.

When I got her the geldings she was with chewed on her tail:huh:...so its short but growing. Her forelock on the other hand seems just like fuzz. Some people at the barn were talking about giving their horses supplements that help with growth. One of the lady's used one H something on her gelding and his tail is already growing.

So does anyone recommand any supplements or any other sort of mane and tail growth enhancer???

What's her diet like? What type of hay? Any grain or RB? Vit/mineral supplement?

Niko gets Omega Horsehine, I love it. You can find it on SmartPakequine.com, it's actually pretty cheap. You can use M-T-G but it smells like beef jerky and it disgusting but it works.

Alot of people swear by M-T-G but it smells like bacon and it gave my horse hives. Many people have had success with it though...

Recently I heard a few horse people talk about Listerine and how it will grow out a mane and tale. I didn't believe them and asked about it and they all agreed that it does work and something in it makes the hair grow and stay strong so it's less likely to brake off? I have never tried it but they all agreed and this was at a clinic where they didn't know each other and yet had all heard of it and tried it with success. We were all chit chatting about it and also WD40 is used to get out ratty tangled hair.

Healthy manes and tails are usually a product of good, balanced nutrition. Flax, such as found in the Omega Horseshine already mentioned, is a good source of the omega 3 fatty acids, which are good for the skin, coat, hooves, just about everything.

She was on Omega Horseshine in March until my feed store was outstock (July)...I put her back on it about a month ago. It really didn't seem to make a difference, she has a shiny coat and her farrier raves on how great her feet are, but her forelock and her tail are still thinner.

Has her forelock always been small?

Yeah, she has never had much of a forelock, you can see in my signature it is hardly even there. Her mane on the other hand is very thick, and her tail has a thick base but gets thin at the end is quite short.

It could just be genetics, as much as you may not enjoy it ;)
Do you brush her forelock or tail often?

yup you're probably right :(

I brush the top of her tail, I heard somewhere about it stimulating hair growth  but I try not to brush out her forelock and rip out the little hairs that are there. I brush out her mane though, boy is that thick!

If you brush out the top of the tail use a body brush not a actual tail brush or comb and only do it like once a week. I wouldn't even touch her forelock, just spray some leave on conditioner on it. :)

Thanks half_passing...yeah I do use a body brush on her tail, its really thick at the top so I am hoping with time. And fingers crossed for her forelock!
