Next Tuesday is Veterans Day. Look around you. This Country was built with the blood, sweat, tears, & lives of our military Veterans. Without them we might be just like.....Iraq!

Absolutely. We owe a debt that we can never repay to our servicemen and women.

A pard of mine just got back from Normandy. Said it was a very moving experience. He's going to e-mail me some pics, I'll try to include them in my album.

My dad's best childhood friend died in the invasion of Normandy. My dad enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1940 and his friend went into the Navy. My dad was 18 in 1940, so his friend would have been the same age. So in June 1944, the young man would have been 22, I guess.
I visited a cemetary in Western France near Germany that was the site of a large battle. It's a US cemetary with hundreds of those simple military headstones. I walked through the rows looking at the names of the young men who died and thinking of their families back home and everything. It was really moving.

I'm planning on posting the story our local paper did on Papa last year (the year before?) at the start of next week. Our veterans are truly amazing, we owe them absolutely everything. :cowboy:

I totally agree my husband is active duty navy and a veteran. I've been trying to think of something nice to do for him Tuesday... Ideas would be welcome!

I work at a public venue. when I see an active duty or an individual wearing something that indicates they are a veteran I do 1 thing walk up to them extend my hand and say thank you for your service. I say that now to all of you who have been or are - yes horseless even you:cool: thank you.

Ya know what would be so cool for me, and maybe your husband may feel the same.
I have pics of when I was in Honduras, during Just Cause. I have alot of pics from there. Me on duty, me off duty sitting on my hutch porch, ect. Anyway, one or two of those blown up and framed, is what would make my day. Could be an idea.
The only military thing I have hanging is my US Southern Command certificate, cause its what Im most proud of. Pics of that stay would be cool hanging above and below it.
I may do that just because...LOL

Every year I send my brother a Happy Veteran's Day card. But I also do a tribute on my blog or somewhere else online where I can share all the great things he did for his country. I am so proud of my brother, he is my hero. I'll be making a post on Vet's Day about him with some wicked cool pictures.

One day earlier this year, my son and I were having lunch when this young soldier surprised his young wife and baby. She was with her mother and his brought him to the restaurant. It was a very touching scene. I bought their lunch for them and personally thanked the young man for doing what they do.
