I was poking around on ebay and saw these Ariat Patent Leather Fatbabys. But they didn't look like the fatbabys I have seen. The soles were different, so I went to Ariat's website. They are approved for riding!:) So I will be buying myself an early Christmas present. Woohoo!

That is awesome! I wondered how long it would be before Ariat figured out that the FatBaby's weren't allowed in competition and did something about it. I always liked those boots but bought the two pairs of DollBaby's I have because of the sole difference... it scares me to think about my boot getting stuck in my stirrup - yikes!
I might have to have a pair of those new boots too!

A friend of mine has a pair of probaby lacers that are nice, but I really wanted a pair of pull ons. Now I'm glad I had waited a while. I found a brand new pair on ebay that no one had bid on for $66, so they might be mine. I'll let you know how they are.

I tried a pair of the old fatbabys on at the store and they weren't very comfortable on me. I'll be curious to see how these fit. I like the look of them!!

CAUTION on Fatbabys. They are nice looking for sure, but wide and may be to wide for your stirups.
Try the Probabys, they are a bit thinner, have the same look.
Darn Probabys are always on sale at PFI, but wouldnt ya know, I dont need any boots right now..lol

Oh, be patient with the loading, the store will come up, but then it needs to search.
If ya dont want to wait, just type in probaby, youll see them

Ok I took a few minutes and did a little more research and a couple phone calls. These are fatbaby style, with probaby with and soles. So it looks like they are the probabys with a shorter shaft. Thanks so much for the info Vick, I'm glad you told me so I could find out some more info. My friend measured her probaby lacers and they are 4" wide at the widest part of the sole, and according to Ariat, so are these. So I think we are ok.

I absolutely LOVE the look of them but I wonder if they will get scuffed easily???? When I read patent leather, I immediately thought of the kind we used to wear when I was a kid. We had to shine them after every wear......

I ordered a pair, so I will let you know how they are. I think they are great, but I didn't buy them for everyday wear. We have to have blacks boots for our sheriff's uniform, and I think they will be really sharp for that.

Yes, let us know.:) If they are somewhat scratch-resistant, I am going to get a pair. A girl can never have too many boots!;)
Oh, & thanks for the link to the Ariat website. I added it to my favorites list. Might come in handy for Christmas.....

Well i love love love my fatbaby's original and I saw in my newest horse catalog (not sure which one) that Ariat had released a version approved for riding!! I about did a happy dance. I'm going to get some for Christmas hopefully!!! My problem is I have fat feet so I hope they are as comfy as the originals!

I have the same problem EW, I have funky shaped feet that are wide and I have bone spurs just below both pinky toes. I'm just a little weird.:p The fatbabys are one of the few boots that actually fit comfortably the first time I put them on, so I am really hoping that these fit the same way.
