I found the movie in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart a while ago and never watched it until last night. It is based on the true story, which I didn't know anything about, and wasn't a bad movie. The ending is definitely better than the alleged real life one.

Yeah I bought it on e-bay a few years ago. It was pretty good. Haven't seen it in a while though.

the place I rent DVDs from to watch has a 5 for 5 deal I do often...5 movies for 5 days for 5 dollars....this was one I picked up a few months ago to watch. My boyfriend, a non horsey person, even enjoyed the movie. I'd never heard of it and happened to see it there and we needed to get a 5th movie...so that is what we got..LOL.
It held my interest all the way through. Sad story though.

I've never heard of it but now I want to see it! I just googled the title and found the trailer for it: http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi1686569241/

I have that movie. I don't think it bares much resemblence to the real story, other than the fact that the horse's name was Shergar.

I agree Appy ....since they never found his body, who knows what truly happened. But, overall I thought it was a decent movie. Very sad story.

I'd never heard of him before so it was interesting to me.

It has always been my sense that Shergar was to Ireland what Secretariat was to America. Can you imagine?

YouTube- Shergar - 1981 King George

Notice how the rider on the leading horse tries to shut down the opening on the rail. Most horses wouldn't have been willing to tackle such a tight spot.
