I want/need suggestions on places to check out for a possible getaway after the wedding. ;)
We want nor need anything high class or ritzy. We just want to get away for a few days.
I intially started out looking at Nigra Falls, then I went to Gettysburg, now I'm stuck in Virginia. We love the mountains, love the beach, love lakes and kinda was thinking of just experience a place or two that we have never been to. We've both been to Gettysburg when we were little but since have wanted to go back. But I'm not so sure that would be entirely romantic. It doesn't have to be all romantic but some romance would be nice.
So.... does anyone have any suggestions in the Delaware, Pa, Virgina, "East Coast" area.
Thanks in advance!

Don't go somewhere you want to see much of. :innocent:
I suggest St Augustine in Florida, that is where we went on our honeymoon. It's a romantic place lots of Bed & Breakfast Inns, horse drawn carriage rides, scenic cruises on the Matanzas and there is St Augustine Beach too!

Around here, a lot of people go to Mackinac Island for their honeymoon, and it's fun because its all horses there ;) no car transportation allowed.
Another place I would L O V E to go to would be Chincoteague Island. I don't know if its much of a honeymoon-ish type spot, but it would be fun to go.
My parents went to the Grand Canyon, just as a side note (:

We went to Mass. on our honeymoon but our vacation spot of choice [Wish it was our home] is Stowe VT. It's a little expensive there but the veiws are unreal. You can go to Burlington and see Lake Champlain surrounded by mountains, you can see Canada from some areas. We want to live there so badly but my parents won't move and I can't leave them. We have a time shack at the Trapp Family Lodge but can't use it this year or probably as long as we have Puppy since they don't allow dogs and we can't leave her, the lodge does have dog friendly rooms so we'd either do that or rent a house if we could get her to travel which is another issue, last time she traveled we ended up at the ER Vet.. My parents will probably stay there again this year and I will cry the whole time because we aren't there.
Vermont is my choice though if I could go anywhere in the east. The west would be a whole other story.

Well depends how much you want to spend.
The places I liked most are not in US.
I went to Slovakia for my honeymoon and absolutely loved it.
Out of all the places I went for vacations the two I liked the most were Korfu - a beautiful island by Greece. You'd love it. But it is probably too far.
Second one was in Tunisia we even went to one day trip to Sahara and rode camels. It was wonderful.
I do not know nice places in US. Didn't have too many chances to travel. I love Colorado. If I had to pick a place in US I'd probably go there. I also enjoyed Branson, MO. I love caverns and enjoyed the Zoo too.
Got to feed sharks and sting rays. :)
Wherever you go make it special. Go somewhere you may not be able to go again and will always remember it. It's worth it.

Chincoteague Island is awesome- I live about 2 hrs away from there so we go often through the summer months. So that wouldn't be much of a trip for us! LOL. But good suggestion.

O yeah we are not looking to spend tons of money because we are in the works of saving and looking for a first home purchase. So money is key & we are just looking for something close & nice... I'd love to go back to FL myself. And CO would be great!!
I'm gonna look into all your suggestions - thanks for your input.

You don't want to go to the Poconos, it is the tickiest tackiest place in the world. When we got married my Uncle was a big wig at Mt Airy Lodge which has since been torn down and is a gambling casino, if I'm not mistaken the owner killed himself. My Uncle offered us an all expenses paid honeymoon and I told him thank you but we were going to go to New England. I hated that place from when I was a kid. Some people might like it so I shouldn't say such awful things about it but it was never my thing. We live about an hr away and it's like night and day. We're real rural, all farms and there it's all developments, billboards, traffic and tackiness. I shouldn't say that, some people might enjoy taking a bath in a giant champagne glass. I guess it's what ever you like but we never even go near the Poconos. They sometimes clump our area in with that area and it doesn't set well with any of us!!!!
VT is kind of expensive but then it depends where you want to stay, we have had some nice places for not alot of money. The lodge is very expensive but there are other places that aren't. They also have a rec path, horseback riding, lots of stuff there. We had to save to go every year [We've been going since 1987 but missed last yr and will miss this year because of Puppy. We used to go up 4X's a year] but it was worth every penny to us.
Hope you'll find the perfect place. Really if you are together and newly married any place is the perfect place!!!!

Las Vegas was amazing! and I went when I was 18 with my family, there is so much to do. But it isn't on the east coast. I wanted to go to OC and Chincoteague and Assateague for my bday next weekend, but we are postponing the trip for now, I've been to OC but not the islands. I hope you find the perfect honeymoon destination :)
