I went and took measurements of both of them tonight. Spent some time with both. Just grooming them. Well here are there measurements.

QT: age 3.5 months old
weight: 440 lbs
height: 11 3 hands

Caddo: age 13 months old
weight: 550 lbs
height: 13 1 hands

How tall do you all think they will be?
QT: Sky is 15 1 hands
PT is 15 2 hands

Caddo: Sky is 15 1 hands
Cinnamon is 14 2 hands

Is there weight about right for them?

Im sure if you had pics to go with the weight question, it would be easier to answer.

As far as height, well, some will tell you to do a tape test on their leg. Im sure someone will chime in with how it is done.

Citys sire and damn were not as tall as he is, so I dont always go by how tall they are.

I took measurement with a tape that has both on it. I will try to get pics tomorrow. I can post one of Caddo tonight. Just give me a sec.

Caddo is a bit thin, even for a baby.

Yeah but he weighs 550 lbs. How much should he weigh? He does a lot of playing and running most of the time. I am not graining them now. They are out on pasture 24/7 now.

If I were you I'd grain him at least once a day. If he plays a lot he needs the energy. If he doesn't get it from food, body will take it from his muscles.

How much grain though? I feed him the Triple Crown Grow and Performance feed. I was feeding him a scoop in the morning and one at night. It weighed 1.5 lbs. It is a pelleted feed.

Hubby and I were thinking about going on and weaning QT from mom. Is it to soon though?

If you are not giving him any try to start with one scoop and see if he improves, if not add little more.

I had to cut Harley's feed down to a pound a day because he is getting too big.
I usually just watch my horses how they look and feed depending on that.

I'm no good at judging youngsters, so I'm no help at all, lol!:) I do know that most growing horses do need some supplemental grain or a ration balancer. Just like kids, the vitamin/mineral and energy requirements are higher.

4-6months is usually rule for weaning. Unless there is some urgent reason the foal needs to be weaned earlier.

Is Caddo on grain? At one spot you said he wasn't he was only on pasture and then another he was on 1.5lbs. Just trying to understand haha :p He is looking a bit thin. I would say give him a bit of grain. Multiple smaller meals are better then just one big one, if it's possible to do that. If he's not on any right now try and wean him on to how much it takes to keep him a good weight :) IF he isn't on grain and did well on the 1.5lbs there's a good place to start and adjust it form there :)
You don't want a youngster too heavy because it can hurt there growth but not giving them enough can stunt them and cause other deficiencies and problems.
He's pretty cute, I bet he's going to row up to be quite the stunner :D

He was but I have quit graining him because he is out on pasture 24/7. I normally just grain my horses from early winter to late spring. The rest of the time they are out on pasture. He hasn't had any grain in about a month now. He was just wormed a week ago.

Do you by any chance have a picture of him form about a month ago when he was on his grain?

Some horses require grain year around to keep their weight, especially the young ones. They are growing more and need more nutrition than your average adult horse.

I don't think he looks TOO bad. It's also a shot seemingly from the ground (sitting with mom? :))

I do agree, put him on some grain. Maybe 1/2 scoop am. 1/2 scoop pm and use your tape to watch his weight weekly. You may need to up it, or it may be too much. Your grass is richer there than here.

You don't want him too heavy. But you want him to have, like others said, some substance to grow on.

Here is one that I took 2 months ago when he was being fed 2x daily.

I hope you can see him pretty well in this pic.

I think he's looks a touch thin in that older photo too. If I were you I'd put him back on grain. :)
