Just curious how many of us live in big cities, small towns, etc.
I was thinking last night how small our town is. The population is under 1,000 I think. Our school is k-12 in ONE BUILDING! And the class size is about 15.
That's not 15 per class room, that's 15 in the graduating class of 2008. It's one of the top schools in the state.
The nearest city with a population over 50,000 is over 2 hours away.
What is the population of your town? How big are you classes at school or how big were they?
Where I graduated the graduating class was about 150.

My town is about 10,000 people. We have 6 stop lights through town, we have 1 highschool, 1 middle school and 3 elementary schools. I actually graduated from Homeschool this year and we had 9 people in our 2008 class so that is actually really good.

Chippewa Falls is about 13,400 or so. I just moved here this year, but I only moved about 15 miles from where I used to live, so not very far.....lol.
Nearest city is Eau Claire, which is about 65,000....and is also where I am from. We have a lot of lakes and rivers around here.

My husband graduated from the school where we live now. He said he really liked having such a small class. Everyone knew everyone and hung out with everyone.
Our kids will be going when they are old enough. I'm excited to see how they do.

There are approx 1000 people in Highlandville. The closest town is Nixa, have no clue how many people live there, but its no where as big as Springfield.
We have a volunteer fire dept, who is also our rescue team. We have a post office. Oh, off the main drag is a gas station. I think there is a hair salon. Our police dept, I think, cosists of 2 or 3 guys. We have a Saddle Club, but no one does anything except for a few months in the summer, then a dinner later in the yr, which should be coming up, and a trail ride, which I dont go on, cause its the same one I dont like to go on. Oh, we have an elementary school, and thats also where you go vote...LOL

Well, I grew up in San Diego, California so...big city, lots of people. Then, I lived in Lake Oswego, Oregon and there were about 800 kids in my high school total. So, about 200 in my graduating class. I loved that town, I could ride my bike to the barn where my horse was boarded or to the lake or river. But, downtown Portland and shopping malls were only a 10 minute car drive away. Now, I live in Las Vegas and there are waaaay to many people living in this freakin desert, lol!
I'd love to move far far away to a small town but I don't know what I would do for a living.

This is sort of our "town" or on the way to it. We have a PO, a place people can eat and a real estate office! I don't know how many people live here. It's grown over the yrs but the school population is going down. My husband teaches 5th grade and has 13 kids this yr and the other 5th grade teacher has 13 or 14. I think when I went to our friend's graduation last yr there were 250 or 300 seniors. The closest town is 30 minutes away and they have some stores but if you want to go to a mall or AC Moore, Pier 1 or anything like that it's an hr away in Scranton.

I could only get the numbers for my county...58125 but it's all packed together I would just consider it my town :)
I think my graduating class had like 300 or so.
My current county is just under 11,600 people and mostly rural. One small town that is pretty much a street with an old county court house, a post office and a few shops.

This sounds like our town. Add another hair salon or 3 and 2 bars and we have the same.

Were sitting at about 120,000 right now. We have five or six high schools, five or six middle schools, and then like eight or nine elementary schools.
Class sizes in high school are between 25 and 32 per class. It kind of sucks because every school is pushing its limits in what it can handle, so every school has those mobile pre-fab buildings added on to try to make more room. Getting around the hallways is crazy.

Including the college's students and the ranger's in those at the ranger camp we have around 5000 in our town. We have one middle and one highschool... but three small elementary schools. I only went to school there two years - Will and I graduated at another school in a class of 150ish (I think).
My cousins, 15 minutes into the mountains above me, are in the smallest public school in the state of GA (it could be in the southeast, I don't remember). They have around 100 students, 2-10 in every grade, and each teacher Pre-k through 8 teaches two grades (like Pre-K and K are taught by the same teacher in the same classroom, 1st and 2nd, etc). There are 4 teachers for 9-12 (one for each major subject)... they also have 3 or 4 teachers that teach the other classes (PE, health ed, etc). :D My cousin is graduating this year with 4 other kids.

My town has about 600 people, triple that number for the cows in the area. Closest "city" is about 25 miles away with probably 60-70,000 people. My hubby came from a suburb of New York City tho, so we've converted him to country redneck in the last 7 years. My graduating class in 2000 had 48 people in it, my son's class has 31 students. We have a post office, a gas station, fire house, 1 elementary and 1 high school. Oh and don't forget the bar and the store. Other than that it's cows and crops as far as the eye can see.

Too many houses, cars, people and smog and not enough horse people:(.
I also would love to move to a more horse friendly city but work????

I live in Chester-le-Street, which houses 23,946 according to the 2001 census. Park View Sixth Form has about 200 students altogether? Each year of secondary school, 7-11, had about 200 students, but the catchment area has kids from outside of Chester-le-Street. Of course there's also the Hermitage School in Chester-le-Street as well, but they're rubbish :p
When I was at school, there were about 33 per class. Now my smallest calss has 8, my biggest 27.
The nearest small city is Durham, 5 miles away, the nearest large city is Newcastle, about 17 miles away. But we have tonnes of little villages all over the place nearby - Waldridge, Great Lumley, Houghton-le-Spring, Ouston, Bournmoor, Birtley etc. None of them are much bigger than Chester-le-Street.
The city I live in has about 100k in the metropolitan area, but only about 40-50k actually live in the city limits. We have over 1000 in the graduating class of one of our school and we have two schools about that size, plus a university.

About 1000 or less. One restaurant, one bar, American Legion, one bank and a post office. Community center and grocery store. One gas station. Smallish car dealership, and a Subway.
Three small towns within 10 miles and then Cedar Rapids is 100,000 give or take and that is 25 minutes away. Have to drive to Coggon or Alburnett for a gas station pizza, no delivery.

We have about 800 year round residents and it swells to 2000 in June, july august. We have one elementary school with about 30 students but its declining.... The closest "city" is 40 min away by ferry and driving and has about 30K residents. We have a lot of people from California(two well-know actors) and Alberta that come for the summer months. Some will move here in the future. We are approx 4 hours from Vancouver and we will have the practice runs for the winter 2010 Olympics on Mt Washington( on the big island) which is only 1 hour away(car and ferry)
Not sure how many people we have, but we're in Oconee/Athens (University of Georgia). 2 public high schools, 2 public middle schools, 3 or 4 public elementary schools. There are over 950 students in our high school (9th-12th) and about 300 per grade (9th grade this year has ALOT of students, next year has even more!). Classes aren't seperated by grade, so I don't even know half of the other Juniors that go to school with me. xD
