Sparky had surgery on his jaw again today. The vet said we could just do him at the farm. The wound was already dirty, so the sterile environment wasn't going to help much. They laid him down, ahhh I had to make sure he didn't smash his head. I knew I had to look away as he brought out the knife. He opened the wound up more to get the tools in. I didn't mind as he got the pieces of bone out, what I minded was all the digging around in the process! You could see the force he was putting into it and Sparky's head was moving. Then he would stick the puller things in there and pull out the pieces. You could just here it grinding on the bone, ahhh. For a moment I thought I might be sick. Sparky was a champ and to everyones surprise jumped right to his feet once he sat up. I took pics but I doubt yall want to see them ;)
The vet said this should do the trick and he should heal up finally. After amost 9 months maybe he can finally get better. He is on SMZ's and light turnout for a few days. It is still bleeding a bit and I think the struggle will be keeping the flies off. Hopefully he heals up well this time.

In October last year I was called home from the barn because Sparky was covered in blood. There was blood everywhere and he had ripped open his jaw. He somehow managed it on the water tank of all the things. The vet at first thought it was just the cut. After a few weeks it wasn't healing and they "discovered" his jaw was broken. He went into Hagyards for surgery. It just wasn't healing right so I had another vet out for x-rays. He said there was still a fragment preventing it from healing. So they came into today to get out those pieces. It ended up breaking apart so it took alot to get them out. Hopefully everything is out now. His jaw was pretty badly broken and he has several fractures running up his jaw.

Sparky sounds like he'd be a great candidate for Vetericyn!

OMG, the poor boy. Prayers his way that he finally heals fully and well. I don't think I would have been able to watch. I probably would have fainted!

Poor Baby, hope he feels better real soon. Seems no matter how we try to keep them safe they still find something to get hurt on. I think I probably would have fainted, I know I couldn't have watched. Hugs to him.
