I know, I realized that after I had posted

I'm more of a visual person, sometimes I skip over the words and go right for the picture. It's a bad habit ;) But, I've always noticed your siggy and avatar :D

I'll add the trainers too, thanks for all of the links! I think I might use some of those trail ones when I'm ready to get a nice breast collar for trails, I want an over the neck style one.

Flair
11-29-2008, 10:52 PM
The avatar and siggy have more swoosh. It's like Fabio or something. Blonde is eye-catching. Text is just blah. Like Urkel.

I love my biothane breast collar. Just toss the thing in a bucket to wash, and the endurance style is really good. I do the same thing with my biothane Turbo bridle. That bridle is happyshiny. Just clip it to the halter and go. Plus, my halter and my reins come from Sunset Halters. Yay for them. My lead rope too.

Oh, more links:

The Distance Depot (http://www.thedistancedepot.com/) - Endurance/Trail Gear
Renegade Hoof Boots (http://www.renegadehoofboots.com/) - Renegade Hoof Boots (Like Uber bootage!)

I have loads of links. I'm an internet shopping junkie. Or at least an internet oogling junkie, I'm too poor otherwise. :hysterical:

Annie&Dixie
11-29-2008, 11:05 PM
Haha, so true for the oogling, one of my few talents ;)

Do you have the samson rope? That's what my reins are made out of, I love it. I hate leather reins.

Oh and I checked out your blog, Mitch looks super amazing in all of his turquoise!

Feel free to give me anymore links you think should be added!!

Flair
11-29-2008, 11:11 PM
I like to look. And lordee, how I look. I have a wish list longer than my arm. Probably even longer than my whole body. :innocent:

Derby rope, actually. Since it's the only one that comes in colors like turquoise.

I did order some Samson flat braid reins though. I like the round rope for trails because it can double as a lead rope as necessary and I like having the feel of it in my hand on the trails, but I like flat braid for around the barn because it's well, flat. I hate leather reins too, they're just not cool to me.

Why thank you, he is a handsome boy in all the turquoise. It goes well with his color. But then, it also went well with that black mare I leased too.

I'll dig up more links on the morrow then.

Annie&Dixie
11-29-2008, 11:16 PM
I've got a super long wishlist too and it just got longer as I looked at some of the sites you suggested

Ok, cool, I've been thinking about getting some derby rope ones for the trail. I hate having my split reins, they just get in the way and this way I can get purple. :innocent: ETA - Gah I must be tired, the samson rope actually does come in purple but they're a bit pricier than the derby rope.

Oh yeah, I bet the turquoise would look great on a black mare but I don't know, Mitch looks pretty amazing in it.

Flair
11-29-2008, 11:25 PM
Hee, it'll probably get longer still. The way I see it, I need a whole barn full of Haflingers to accommodate the things I want. Mitch can't possibly carry all this tack at once.

Yep, the Derby reins are pretty nice. The rope's nice and soft. Not quite the same as the Samson because it's just a solid braided rope without a core, but I like it. And the colors. Yay for colors. You could probably get split reins in the Derby rope, but I really like having continuous ones. Especially because it's safer on the trail, and I'm using a snaffle and need to have both hands on the reins anyway (more or less, sometimes I actually have one only hand on the reins, but it's all power steering with two since that's how you gotta ride with a snaffle)

Annie&Dixie
11-29-2008, 11:37 PM
Haha, there ya go. You better start collecting your haflingers now. You've got one, what? Maybe about five or six more to start? Maybe more?!

Yeah I'm all for the continuous reins on the trail. I also ride in a snaffle, as you know, and Dixie isn't the greatest at responding to a rein on her neck. She will but I often have to do both; direct rein where I want her to go and then rub the rein on her neck so she'll get the point...we're getting there. So yeah we do the power steering thing :) I've got a couple of pairs of continuous but they just seem too short for me to actually do trails in, Dixie puts her head streched out and even with her topline, it's just her natural headset and then I prefer to give her as much rein as possible so she can do what she needs to. Right now, I've got 7 1/2 inch split reins and she uses almost all of it but maybe a little more than a foot. The two continuous reins I have are 6ft and 8ft...the 8ft one might be ok, I'll have to see how she does, I know I'm giving her more rein than she really needs but I prefer that over too little.

Ok, I'm done rambling for the moment. :)

Another trainer...Chris Cox

I sure hope WB stickys this

Flair
11-30-2008, 06:25 AM
Nah, I think I ought to start at a round dozen. So eleven more golden butterbutts for me. Well, time to win the lottery. :p

Sheesh, 6 foot reins. Short! I got 7 foot reins once, and they just were not long enough for me. Took the reins apart and ended up putting it together as a neck rope for riding bridleless. My turquoise rope reins are 8 foot I think, and then I have a little string on them to hold if he gets a drink. My tan-colored rope reins are something like 9 feet or so, and I just got 10 foot long flat braid ones. I like long reins, but want them closed for riding on the trail.

And since Vicklynn suggested him, here's the link to Chris Cox (http://www.chris-cox.com/)
