Poor girl. The other day, I noticed some bites on her, a little swelling under her belly, then the next day the swelling was 1/2 the size.
I went out today and it doubled the first days size. She has another spot behind her knee, at her girth area(guess were not riding any time soon, but its all good).
I need to buy some Calamine lotion tomorrow, and some more benadryl to have on hand so I dont run out.
I hope to see some improvement soon. If not, well guess the vet will be called in.
Damn bees or what ever got my poor girl.
She seems happy, yells at me like normal, just touchy about her swollen area.
I took an ice pack out to her today(which she decided felt good), but before I did that, I was checking her belly out, no halter(normal)and she pinned her ears back and kicked out(she got haltered after that). Poor Tex was there and she laid him hard.
I was on the phone with PS freaking and had to hang up on her.
Tex is good! Bob took all the dogs in the house after that. Tex got alot of extra love ons.

Sorry Vicky. I swear this has not been a good year for the forum horses. If it isn't one thing it is another. I hope Myst feels better soon. I also hope Tex feels better as well.

Maybe she laid on an ant pile??? Considering the bumps are on her belly. Have you check her paddock for large ant hills?
I hope she gets better soon.

The swelling in on her belly, most the bites are on her left side.
The swelling is usually due to reaction from the bites.
No ant hill though, thanks for checking.
Just got home, heading out to check on her and put some calamine lotion on.
Bob fed this morning, said that he thinks she looks better.
I dont know if it is or not really. Maybe a little bit, but not much to write home about. I put the calamine lotion on her. She wanted nothing to do with me touching her swollen belly. She ran off and I followed her up to the gate, finished up there, she was better about it. I hope I dont have to halter her again(when she kicked Tex) to mess with her, she is SOOOOO sweet natured. I just coo her softly and she relaxes. Im glad she is happy other wise.

Glad to hear Mystic is doing better. Poor girl. My colt had 2 bumps like hives on his side. I think he might have got in to it with a bee. Now I wonder if Jordan's was from his shot or bee's. I need to go check around the pasture field. Darn bugs are bad this year.

Thats sad.
I am going to have to put more fly bags out this yr. Im thinking 4 at a time, when I usually only use 1 in an area. Bob wants to put one up somewhere near Mysts shelter. Im thinking there is enough height, that it would be a good idea. The one at the feed shed stunk to high heaven and Bob burned it today while he was burning. I also have one up at the round pen.
On her note. She is kinda lazy and relaxing alot to day. Im sure its due to the Benadryl and discomfort. She is drinking alot of water and has good amounts of poo, so Im not worried there.
Im going to call the vet tomorrow to make sure he dosnt want to see her any way, or make any changes to what Im doing.
