Ok....The nasty little critters are out in force.

My daughter had one on her scalp this morning and it was the first time she has had to deal with one and it was not a painless removal. Blood sucker was deep. We got it fully removed and the wound treated and dad even took revenge on it with a blow torch.

So here is the question; what are good Human safe tick preventions that you know of? My dogs are covered head to tail, but I don't see putting a tick collar on my kid as a valid way to deal with this lol. Ok joking aside are there any safe people and pet pesticides for the yard, in the house, and on us to help prevent another bite? It has been years since either me or my hubby have lived in an area with high tick counts, so any help is appreciated.

Eliminate them from your pets, horses, pasture, yard, and house.
Advantix for dogs.
Tri-tec 14 for horses.
SEVIN spray for the pasture/yard.
Ortho Home defense for the house.
good luck.

I'm with BlaiseG on all of her suggestions.

Ugh. Worst place I ever lived for them was the northern Black Hills. A neighbor actually had her young children disrobe on the deck, used a sweat scraper to remove the ones not entrenched and pulled the rest off her kids every time they came in. We had some luck with DEET, her kids were always playing in water and it would wash off them.

The spectricide used to come in a clear bottle. Still have some so I dont know if its changed or not. Walmart carries it. If Im not mistaken, it is kid/animal safe.
I used it when I lived in townhomes and no one else would take care of their surrounding area. Id over spray on purpose(twards neighbors property)...LOL. My dogs had to be tied out at times, I wasnt taking their bugs in my home.

I keep these items on hand.
