I opened the front door to let the cats in for the night and I could see that one of the cats had something cornered in the yard. There aren't a lot of "critters" in the suburbs of Las Vegas so I figured it had to be a mouse. When I got closer I could see that whatever the cat found was too big to be a mouse, more like a large rat. Finally I got close enough to see this.............................................. ..........................................

Isn't it just too freakin adorable? I'm calling it Lucky. A few minutes later and bunny may have been cat food, poor baby! Tomorrow I will post a couple of fliers and see if anyone's kid is missing their bunny. If not, I'll either keep it or see if my cousin would mind his daughter taking it.

Ooohhhhh what a doll! I am a HUGE bunny lover (just ask Ebony, my mini lop rabbit, ha!). Yes, that bunny sure is lucky, he never would have made it, even if the cats hadn't of gotten him. Glad that you rescued him, how is he (she?!) doing tonite?? Give him a handful of hay, if you can, it helps with their digestion (the bunny mom in me!).

If I lived closer I'd be sooooo tempted to take him. I hope you can find a home for the little sweetie.....is there a house rabbit society out there? You can check and see on www.rabbit.org and click on Chapters to find out. If so maybe they can be of some help if you need any.

Hey...cool...there IS one......

Maybe you could call them and ask them in case you need to find him a home? I used to belong to the WI chapter.

Well, I have no idea where the bunnies are coming from but tonight there was another one that wasn't so lucky. I came home and my siamese ran up the walkway with a little white bunny in his mouth, it was already dead. So, now I want to know who in the neighborhood is dumb enough to leave these little bunnies out where the cats can get them.:nono:

On a happier note, Lucky is such a cute little bunny and I bought him food and a toy and went to my parents house to dig my old rabbit cage out of their garage. I think I might keep him, it's been so many years since I've had a bunny.

Oh that is so sad about the white bunny, they are so helpless if they are loose.

But, I am so glad to hear that you may be keeping the bunny you found!

How cute! He probably was a wild bunny, we have alot of babies like that around here, unfortunately they mostly get killed by th e cats and coyotes.

Yeah, we have a lot of cottontails out around our barn. This one isn't a wild one, it's used to being handled and it is brown but doesn't have the white cotton tail the wild one have. Plus, there definitely isn't any wildlife near my house.

I just love bunnies. I had one when I was a teen. The only bad thing was he chewed the electric cords in my room so watch out!

Heehee, we had a bunny when I was a kid that chewed on electrical cords also. This bunny is such a tiny little thing and with the cats and dogs in the house he really needs to stay in the cage for his own safety. I do get him out and cuddle him a couple times a day though, soooo cute and soft! I love the wiggly little nose too.

Can anyone take a guess at what kind of bunny Lucky might be? I've had bunnies before but always had lops, have no idea about the other breeds. Does it look like a dwarf or baby of some other breed?

If he is especially small, he may be a Netherland Dwarf, or a Netherland Dwarf cross maybe?
Perhaps he is a cross, here is some Netherland Dwarf info.....

Thanks Remali, he is tiny, but not that tiny and I think the ears on Lucky are already to long for a dwarf. So, maybe Lucky is a cross, like you said, or else just a baby and going to get bigger....I guess time will tell!
