We've only been here on our property for 5 years or so. . . and I've had this little round pen planned since then and this week we FINALLY put it up. I still want to even the land out a bit and bring in sand and some pea gravel but for now it'll be a rough version of what it will be!! Sonora has already worked in it a few times and even though it has a tiny slope to one side she's managed to make it around without crashing into the fence. . lol. Will be riding tomorrow if I have time. I'm so excited! Our land is very hilly and rocky and there is no where I can work with a young horse safely. This will make a huge difference in my riding at home!! One nice thing about it is you can't see any of my other horses when you are in it so it's going to help with the herd bound issues they all have. Sonora doesn't even care about leaving them now after just a few workouts. Plus the pen stays shady until 11 right now! It'll be great in the winter too because it's surrounded on 3 sides by trees!
Anyways! On to pics!
I only have one of the actual pen and it's a cell phone photo. . .

That's our front gate and the road behind her. House and barn are back to the right through the trees

Gets a little dusty when the cars go by. . . (That's our wild grapevine behind her! At least with the round pen down there I'll remember to check and see when the grapes are ripe!

Sonora still has quite a bit of pep to her step (no feet on the ground) She's a bit tubby but it'll come off fast!
Thanks for letting me share!! I'm so excited! Today we only worked on turning to the inside. She knows to do it but she's a bit rusty. Hasn't been in a round pen in about 3 months. . .
