I have been recovering from a bad horse riding accident went flying off a 17.3 draft at a full gallop. Now I have a second job so I have a lot on my plate.
Anyways my frustration, I have spent the last 5 years rehabbing, saving and getting unsound horses. Spending lots of money and I have put 3 down. I have 2 horses now Beebles a year old filly and Maggie Moo the BLM mustang. I want to ride so bad I cry. But I can't I can not find a saddle that fits maggie.
A friend came over and she is a med wide for the wintec gullet system but I need a endurance or a western.
So I have not been able to ride, she is to green for bareback and my hip would scream. I feel like I am never going to be able to ride, it makes me so depressed. I don't have the cash to get another saddle, mind you this is saddle 26! I am bringing my western wintec and my english to the consignment shop today but dang it I am so upset that everyone around me rides but I can't ride MY horse, the horse I LOVE the horse I SLAVE over. I am so angry and sad. I know all this over a stupid saddle. But man I have had Maggie for 4 years and never get to really get her out. She LOVES the trails, but yet all we can do is go for walks and brush her in the pasture.
Thanks for listening... I am so frustrated!

It is a valid frustration. I am sorry you are down, but just keep telling yourself "it will get better" I know sometimes when everything seems stacked against us it is hard to believe, but trust me things will get better and the consignment shop may just be your answer, keep your eyes on what comes in and out and perhaps the answer to your saddle dilemma will walk through that door.
Keep your chin up, you will be riding soon.

You mean we don't own horses just for the fun of feeding them, and picking up their poop, and making them a nice place to live, and tending to their every whim? Some people ride? ;)

The healing process is very mental. ((HUGS))
Been there, twice.
Know that there is a reason for your healing time.
Take care of yourself as your suppose to and try to learn that it IS ok.
Enjoy the time with your horse while your not riding.
Can you do some ground work? That filled my time with this last med issue.
Your perfect saddle will come, hopefully for you, soon!

I will pray that you find the right saddle soon for Maggie. Like Vicky said though try to do some other work with her. It will help to pass the time.

Do your friends have a calm, trail-safe horse that they would let you ride while you get this all figured out? That's what I did before Buster. I'd help with chores and stuff and they'd let me ride.

I believe Specialized Saddles allow you to fit any horse. I'm saving to buy one. It's a regular saddle with shimms that make the fit perfect. Two of my friends just ordered them.

I feel your frustration. While my saddle fits my horse I unfortunately haven't been able to ride him since basically Nov/Dec because he was not in good health.
Be thankful your lady is healthy and happy! :) time will bring you a new saddle. :) you'll get there!

I'm so sorry ML
I really hope things get better fr you. I'm sure you'll find saddle somewhere, are thier any stables around with draft horses, they normally have people who know how to get a fitting saddle fir a wider horse.
I know how you feel tho, about being so frustrated with not being able to ride.
I hvent been able to ride for along time, but I havnt even been able to see me boy....:(
things will get better. they always do.

Sorry to hear about saddle fit woes. I hope you can find something that works on your next try. And it's not just about the saddle, it's everything else that you've dealt with and the saddle is currently the one thing that's keeping you away from what you want. Completely understandabe.
I know how you feel about not riding. I've been on and off riding from my hip for a long time, and it's the most frustrating thing I've ever dealt with. It's harder because no one seems to get it, either. No matter how many times I explain it to anybody- mother, doctor, friends, barn buddy, BOs, they kind of nod and still say something when I only canter Fred once per direction because I'm about to fall off in pain. So I feel awful that they can ride forever, and I hop on for 15-30 minutes and limp out of the ring.

Thanks everyone. I love just being with them, but when a whole group goes out and I can't it makes me feel awful and Maggie too, she LOVES the trails.
I did ride someones *trusted* horse and I got hurt pretty bad. It happens no hard feelings all around. 1 fall per a season and mines done with.
I want a saddle like this but I need to find out what a medium wide translates in endurance and western

I wish we could fix your saddle problem so you could get back on your horse! You may consider an Aussie saddle, they are very secure and have less 'bounce' than a Western. Most come in a standard 6.5" gullet but if you look around you can find a used Aussie with a wide gullet (7") for around $200-300. Traditional Aussies are much more forgiving in how they fit the horse because they do not have bars like a Western saddle. The underside is a stuffed serge panel like an English saddle. Some of the modern Aussies and Aussie - Western crossover saddles do have Western bars, though, and along with that comes saddle fit issues.
Good luck!
