This is horse and cat related, hmmm. Well, Ill talk about Myst first...LOL
Still a little concerned about her swelling under her belly, I took her in today to be sure what I was doing was right.
The swelling is some (left over) edema, no big deal:clap:,
everything moves south, so it shows up at her belly.
He said I can ride, it wont bother her!!!!
He gave her a score of 6 out of 9, said alot of people like to keep their horses at a 6 and that she looks Great!!! Impressed with her weight loss, he said she is fine where she is when I said "no ribs yet".
I forgot to ask why, but he checked her heal bulbs when she walked in the barn. I commented really quick, he said "just checking, shes fine" I forgot to ask why.
So, until the hives are 100% gone(they are very small and few), I am to keep her on the benadryl so she dosnt have another reaction from the hives. Said wet heat would be good for her adema(help it go away), but its so hot out that it probably wouldnt be comfortable, so IF I do it, do it at night. He wasnt concerned about it, said it'll go away.
I asked about strangles, he said he would give it if he owned a stable, said hes given thousands of doses and never had an issue, other than one time there was an outbreak and he noticed it as he was was going down the line of horses. Stopped immediately and only one horse that had it had a reaction, but it was the same reaction that would of happened without the dose. None of the horses that got the dose, or the ones that didnt died, all came out fine. We talked more in detail. He says he has never heard of a horse dying from the vaccine, but did say that the vaccine is better today than it was yesterday.
Me, Ill still give it.
(Oh, if anyone wants to use the strangles comment on the other thread, feel free to copy and paste)
This thread, I just added it as part of our conversation.
Oliver!!
He does NOT have leukemia!
He has his baby worming done, his eart mite treatment done, first shot, due to his size(1 lb), we opted to split his shots up. He will get his other shot in 2 weeks, then do his boosters 2 weeks later.
He is happily sleeping in my comfy chair, with Tex mothering of course. I had to take Tex with, cause when I picked up the crate, there was NO way I was leaving him behind. I had his kitty.:)
Oliver was a hit at the vet! I was told I could leave him behind....so not happening.
