View Full Version : Rascal in the woods - Pic heavy!
Today I decided to take Rascal for a walk in the woods. Snapped several pics - but most of them are at funny angles because I was leading him & trying to take pics at the same time.
Seems he changes colors a lot. Several of these turned out lighter than he really is, but still - overall he is lighter than he was a couple weeks ago. He also seems to be getting some reverse dappling. I think he is going to hit every shade of red before he gets to his final color.

:) At some of those angles I think you're making him look like he has a very big noggin ;)
Looks like a fun walk in the woods. Body's coming along really nicely... what's his personality like?

LOL - he does have a big noggin! His personality is fantastic. Very willing, curious, a bit jumpy - but getting better, and learns quickly. Not high strung, yet not a lazy blob either.
Equine Woman - I was told he was a yearling when I got him. My vet checked his teeth and said all he could verify was that he was over a year, but did not reach 2 yet.

Well, I got the feeling he probably hasn't been much of anywhere before following you home, so that all sounds pretty good :)
Yes - I'm thrilled with his progress. He went from completely not haltered trained to very well mannered even in new surroundings like the woods in no time.
One dog came up and started barking and spooked him and he lunged forward a bit, but as soon as he felt the halter pressure, he tried to stop and practically sat on his haunches while he slid a bit. Would have made a reining horse proud with that sliding stop. And I know horses who have been halter trained a lot longer who would have just blown through that pressure after being spooked like that.
