My camera won't come on

It's only 5 years old, and lightly used. Canon SI IS. If anyone here has an idea of what to do to fix it, I'd be most appreciative.

Check for corrosion and/or clean the battery contacts (assuming the batteries are also charged ;))

Thanks for the idea, WB. That's about the only thing I've been capable of doing so far. My husband keeps asking me if the batteries are in the right way, so you two are on the same track!:)

Some of the rechargeable batteries can be put in backwards.

Some digital cameras have an internal battery, too. They will occasionally go on the blink and can be replaced by a repairman.

At 5 years it is getting towards the end of it's useful life. I'd take it to a camera repair shop and see if it's something they can fix.
