My 7 yr old qh/tb cross is finally broadening out. Good because he was such a skinny guy for a while but bad because he's boarder line too wide for my saddle. And I LOVE my saddle. It's an old barnsby with a big seat and long flaps that actually fit my long legs. It's broken in perfectly and fits me like a dream (I've never had a saddle feel so right to me before). But if it doesn't fit my horse it's no good is it? Is there any kind of corrective padding/blankets or something I can use to help it fit him?
If next weeks xrays come back with results that mean no jumping/showing for my boy then we'll just stick to the western and aussie saddle that are wider. But if he will recover and still be able to do some possible showing and light jumping I'd like to still use my saddle.
Is there any hope or should I start thinking about saddle shopping?
