I remember this case and wondered what ever happened! I think that if I had been the homeowner, I would have just split it 50-50. A windfall's a windfall, after all, and the guy could certainly have just taken it. What do you all think?

Wow the homeowner sounds like a nasty, crazy person. Fake bankruptcy and a trip to Hawaii? Yeah it sounds like you were really strapped. I would have given the guy at least 30 percent.

I would say that the homeowner would have full rights to the cash since she was legal deed holder of the property. AS for the contractor, I would have given him a hefty finders fee and be done with it. (not 50% but 25-30%) Why should he get half, he doesn't own the property.
Now lets get to the Dunn family estate. I would say that the statute of limitations would have expired and the family would not have any right to the hidden cash.
