I was curious about how many people slept with their pets. I can't remember a time growing up I didn't let my pets sleep in bed with me. I've heard many different things from friends some yes some no and some thinking it's absolutely disgusting. So was wondering who on here lets their pets sleep with them? If yes..why? And if no why?

A few of them sleep with us sometimes, a couple of the cats like to and one dog likes to sneak up there too, but so far we draw the line at the goats. ;)

yup...at one point when my mom raised pomeranians...I'd have upwards of 6 dogs in my bed..LOL

I used to let my dog sleep in the same bed, and then I started waking up with ticks >.<

I don't think it's disgusting to let your animals sleep in the same bed or anything, but my dog loves to run in the woods, and even though I check her for ticks, some of them escape my notice and would end up jumping over to me during the night. Ticks really freak me out, so I don't let her sleep in my room anymore...

Lets just say I have woken up at 3 am with a silkie rooster crowing in my ear.

In the winter I normally have one cat next to my head and another on my feet :). They get kicked out of my room in the summer though because I hate them waking me up at 4am :p.

My parents let dogs stay in the horse and I had my pom sleep with me.

Now that I live with my grandparents and they don't let any animal in the house I like it better.

Oh my snake stays in my room but he doesn't have hair.

I had a cat sleep with me much of my life. Also suffered from head infections and bronchitis most of my life. Finally went to an allergist who said not to let the dog or cat into the bedroom. He said most people with allergies have a cat. After that I let my cat be an outdoor cat, as that's what he wanted, I got a new rug...no more head infections.
My friend is constantly sick and sleep with her cat...

None. The dogs aren't allowed on the furniture. My cat would sleep on the bed with me. We don't have a cat here in KY. When we move and have another cat it can sleep on the bed if it wants ;)

I have worse allergies and sore throats here in KY with only a dog in the house, compared to GA with a chinchilla, cats, dogs etc.

2 Border Collies and 3 cats claim there spot on the bed at night. You can't lock them out or they will keep you up all night meowing and scratching at the door. lol It's halarius to open the bed room door and see 5 sets of eyes looking up at you like you left them to die in the living room! lol

We have a California King bed (larger then a normal king) so there's plenty of room during the week when it's just me at home. I sleep on the right hand side and the animals all take over the rest of the huge bed. But, once the hubby is home on weekends the dogs know not to get on his side of the bed so they sneak up on my side so I end up in the middle with them on one side and Hubby on the other. lol I think if we didn't have the huge bed there wouldn't be so much extra room for the dogs and cats to take advantage of and claim as there own! lol The bedroom is the animal "den" and all of them want in at night....I sleep like a baby so I don't really care if the animals find some extra space to claim.

My dog is too big to sleep with me but sometimes we have a cat or two (or three or five). My oldest dog is too arthritic to get up there even if she fit. She has her very own bed right next to where I sleep. Our other 3 dogs all have their own kennels they sleep in around the house. They don't get along outside of them so they have to be kept up.

However My Cocker Spaniel Katie would come to my side of the bed every night at bed time, put her front legs up and sniff at me, which meant "pick me up Mom" She slept under the covers against my legs every night (and every night my husband said, no dogs!) lol. When she died I really really missed that little sniff and the snuggle.

My bed, although Queen size, has 2 of those king size pillows as a base. One of those pillows has a towel draped over it(my side)and Oliver likes to sleep there. Kitty Meow slept there before she got kicked out of the house...lol
Tex sleeps at the foot of the bed. Shyla will cuddle with me until Im asleep, but sometime during the night she gets down. Lady, shes independent, she will come up now and then for a love and then gets down.

My dog always always always sleeps with me when she's with me. She likes to cuddle right up next to me. She's very well trained though and if I need her to get down or anything she does so immediately. She understands that it's my bed and she's just allowed in as long as she behaves. She always sleeps on the couch with me too when I take naps or watch tv, and sometimes my hedgehog joins us as well :).

If I fall asleep on the couch I am usually cuddling Puppy and Jack and sometimes Bo or Molly or all of them are with me but in the regular bed no they aren't allowed. I can never get the cat hair off of the sheets and blankets. I'm pretty allergic so no animals in the bed but it's OK on the couch since I can get the hair off of the couch.

I have lots of animals, but only one indoor. If it were up to me I'd have another indoor dog and a cat too, but my parents say no.

Anyway, my dog Cassy sleeps with me sometimes. She's allowed to anytime she wants. But when it's hot she tends to sleep in the basement because it's a lot cooler down there. But when she's scared, just wants or company, or is cold she'll sleep with me. She takes up more than her fair share of my twin bed too. Sometimes I'll even wake up to find her snuggled right up next to me with her head on my pillow!:p

Please forgive my ratty looking hair and lack of make up. I had JUST woken up to a cold, wet nose poking at my neck. ;)

Nope. We have 2 dogs. One is 85lbs and one is 10lbs. Even the 10lb doesn't sleep with us. Our bigger dog used to, but one day we found out he had gotten worms from getting into something outside. Let's just say our comforter never looked the same to me again - so the dog got kicked off and isn't allowed back on.

With the little one - he is hairy like a pomeranian - and i worry about ticks. They sleep in our room - one on each side of our bed on the floor.

My dog Oreo sleeps in my room, and once in awhile he'll jump up on the bed. It's a good thing I've got a big bed, otherwise he'd push me out!!

I have one that sleeps with us sometimes. She used to have to get off every night but one night we forgot to tell her and she has pretty much been on the bed since. As she is getting older she sleeps on her bed more at the foot of the bed. The other dog is too afraid of being trapped to sleep on the bed.

Oh come on WB Serta has sheep! Why couldn't you invent something with goats..lol Everyone has spoiled rotten babies. Do you ever find it where you can't fall asleep if they're not in the bed? I have that problem sometimes.

My dog is a 50lb lab mix who sheds like CRAZY. He's not allowed in the bed. However, I've noticed when I'm gone he sleeps in my bed. I come home from work to find a dog-shaped pile of hair on my sheets. The retard has his own crate.

I used to let my cat sleep with me when I was a kid and my rottie would sneak into bed at night. Now, though, we don't let any animals sleep with us. Its hubby's rule - not mine. Not telling him who sleeps on his side of the bed when he is on a trip. :innocent:

we have 6 cats, 2 80lbs dogs, and a full size bed. it is not fun. but skidder sleeps on the floor next to hubby and dozer sleeps on the floor next to me until its cold of hubby gets up then he gets in the bed with me. the cats all have to sleep curled up along hubby. we are planning to get a bigger bed but want to wait till we move so we dont have to haul it up to our house.

3 dogs. The healer mix and the chow cross will sleep on the bed when the hubby is at work but he hates hair in the bed so when he is home they sleep on the floor. The Jack Russell is never allowed on the bed because he gets territorial and he bit me once when I was trying to get comfortable...

Oh yeah. Max is with us everynite. The cats are usually with us when the weather is cold. There havebeen nights I wake up, pinned to the bed. Babe our female cat (RIP) used to sleep on my hip. If I rolled over slow enough, she'd just move with me and then re settle on my hip.

This is cool lol. I didn't know so many people let there animals sleep with them :) My min pin Rocky sleeps with me always! As soon as he sees me with a blanket he is right there. He not only sleeps with me but under the covers. He always has ever since he was 5 weeks old. It used to scare the crap out of me because I was afraid to roll over on him. He also likes to chew holes in my comforter and pull the stuffing out if I don't wake up to let him out lol. My comforter looks like swiss cheese...(I can take a picture if you want ;))

Then there is Baby my lab mix. She loves to sleep in my room with me. She'll get on the bed if I let her but it is a twin and I need a little space lol. She is just fine on the floor though and always waits for her goodnight lovins when I lay down, she sitts at the side of my bed and nudges my hand till I pet her :)

Wow, I never knew so many people slept with their animals. The Cat sleeps on the end of the bed with us, but both the dogs sleep in a crate. We had Little Bit in the bed a few times, but we usually ended up pushing her off on accident, and I didn't sleep well knowing she was loose. And Abby is a typical 1 year old lab.... chewer.... so she doesn't get to be in the house unsupervised. Our dogs are happier sleeping together in their crate. Also makes it really easy to travel with them. Just load up their crate, and they sleep just fine. They don't get upset not being allowed to sleep with us at other's places.

The cats are allowed up but the dogs are just to big! Something about 2 dogs that each weigh 125 pounds is just to much for J and I to share a bed with! haha!

When our cats/dogs were allowed throughout the house I frequently had them in my bed at night, particularly the cat. I'd fall asleep petting him.

I have occasionally fallen asleep with my parrot sitting on me (by accident), but I try not to make a habit out of that for fear of rolling over on him or him getting into trouble while I sleep. He's good though, I'll wake up and he'll be sitting somewhere like my feet staring at me :)

our dog has to be invited to come on the couch or the bed. my boyfriend works till 2 am so toby usually sleeps with my for an hour or two on the bed on his side but then gets hot and lays on his dog bed at the end of the bed for the rest of the night. However he will lay on the bed when we leave him home

The cats have the run of the house and the dogs sleep in the room with us. Tango, boxer, sleeps at the foot and Clancy, pug, sleeps between us every night--she has to snuggle. Sasha, German Shepherd, is huge and can sleep on the bed if she can squeeze herself in, but seems to prefer the floor where she has more room and it is cooler. My pets have been allowed to sleep in the bed since I was a kid.

Animals are not allowed on my furniture, or in my bedroom, or kitchen counters, or chairs, or table and they know it well. I don't even have to say anything, Gracy parks herself right by the door and waits there.
My son has his cat sleeping in his bed. I don't mind that.
I just don't like animal hair stuck to my face or food.

I know the feeling my cat Sox is our alram clock every morning at 5:30 she starts her round of love bites. She starts with our finger tip ,then moves to what ever body part is left uncovered and if that doesn't work she bites our eye brows.

Once you get up don't dare make the bed she'll attack the crap out of you. She wants to snuggle in the blankets and get her beauty rest..

Not us. I think it's a combination of, we get too hot, hubby's allergies, and the fact that I just like to have some places fur-free. I like to take a bath/shower at night, especially in winter when it's not hot at night, and I'd feel yucky if I woke up in the AM with fur everywhere. Then I'd have to shower again! LOL

We have fallen asleep with the cat on the bed before, but he usually woke is up at some point and got put in his room lol.
