I am possibly driving to AL to look at a pony. I am looking for something to teach lessons on.

He is 10yrs, 14.2h. He has been teaching lessons and camps. He looks downhill, but not too bad. Overall I think he looks really kind. I guess I am leary of driving that far for a lesson pony. If it doesn't work out I just spent $350 in gas... I know there is no way of knowing but I would really appreciate yalls input on him. They are asking $5k. I think that is a little high in todays market but not sure.

There are two videos of him.

Nice looking! I agree that 5K is high for this market.

Hard to say from little videos if it's a good price, but bombproof little ponies that can be trusted with kids and jump have always commanded a high price - into the 5 figures if they're Pony Club material. This one is not a flashy mover, but sure seems rock steady, at least at home.

I like what I see so far. A horse that is very laid back and listens very well. He is well trained as a lesson horse.
He is a good size that won't scare some riders. He seems really well behaved.
I think he is worth the 5K. Might be a little high but you have to think about what you are doing with him.

I think if he is what your looking for then 5 grand is nothing to pay. i sold my 12 hand pony for that much cash and a bay AQHA mare also. my pony did it all tho...

I think he's cute. Not flashy but he looks like he could be a little packer and if he is he's worth 5K in my eyes for a dependable kids lesson pony.

Can you get him thoroughly vetted? You just don't want a horse that's been "jumped to death" because he is so steady. He looks real cute.

he has a cute little jump and he certainly looks quiet! I am not a good judge of price though so I can't comment there

Where is he in AL? I might have connections that would know him. Find out if he's worth the trip.

ETA: Found out where they are. Don't know anything about them, but they are right down the road from me! And I think they're in Georgia! Let me know if you head this way! Love to meet up!

ETA... again: If you are worried about him not being all he's advertised to be. I'll be happy to go over and take a ride on him, and just let you know if he's worth the $350 in fuel to take a look.

ETA... again again... Well never mind, found him on their site and he's up in Albertville. So not close to me! But he does look nice in his videos. Honest jumper, nice head carriage, doesn't seem to care what his rider does, just does his job. If he's all he's cracked up to be, I think he's well worth the $5K.

Thanks so much everyone! I am really excited to go see him.

AU I really appreciate that! I wish he was closer to you so maybe we could meet up. I will be back in GA soon and I plan on going to Poplar Place quite a bit. Is that close to you?

Oh yeah we go to poplar all the time. Haven't made it yet this year. Either it's the same weekend as a barrel race, or I don't have the money. Poplar is EXPENSIVE, even for the schooling shows. But I do love riding there. I'm dying to take Fid to school XC, we should do that together!

We are going to look at Val on Wed! Keep your fingers crossed everything goes well. This is my first long trip with the trailer. And this will be the new trucks first as well, hehehe. I usually don't bring a trailer to look at a horse, but in this case it is such a long drive I would have the trailer just in case. If we like him I don't really have the time or want to drive all the way back down there. If we don't no harm, just used a little extra money on gas.
