Yikes! It's already time to get started again! Madi & Robert pick up their next mustangs tomorrow in Oklahoma! Hope they get good ones! Of course I'm going along to take photos so stay tuned for updates cause the MUSTANGS ARE COMING! lol.

(oh and Madi was selected to compete in the invitation only Mustang Magic in Fort Worth next February so that's exciting!)

Thankfully this round of competition doesn't have a fan favorite vote!

I know. That's what I said when they said they were doing it again. At least I'm done with their photos from the last one . .lol. This time we'll be headed to Murfesboro TN. About the same distance as Fort Collins Co but it's in October so it'll be pretty!

Pics!! These guys are VERY nice looking horses. Both are Bay, both are WILD! Going to be a lot different that the last round!!! I doubt there will be any sort of riding this week!

Madi's is about 14 hands, Bay with NO white on him anywhere. He got a bit banged up in the trailer on the way here but she managed to get him close enough in the round pen to get a hold of his lead rope (after Robert worked with him for a minute when we first got home) She touched him half a dozen times on his nose and had him following her around the round pen at a distance. He's going to be FAST! Think his name might be Wildcat, but we'll have to wait and see what the final verdict is!

Robert's horse is a Bay with a broken heart on his forehead and a little cute snip in his nose, plus lots of white on his legs. He's about 14.3 or so. . taller and more stout that Madi's gelding. Seems older than Madi's as well. (Madi's was a baby!) Robert worked him after I left this evening so I missed it!! (DRATS!) But he said he did great and he already touched him (I did to at the BLM facility when he was in the chute.) He cracked me up, they loaded them at the same time but they separated them for a second in the chutes and his solution was to try and bite the concrete he was standing on. .

Anyways, on to the pics!

Mostly because he's better at sand skiing that Madi I think. (If you've never seen a person ski at the end of lead rope you are missing out. It's impressive. He made an entire lap. . (see below)

sand skiing is fun, the trick is to keep your toes up and weight back. i had a mustang i was working with in college pull me down the stall rows.

Those are awesome pics! Does Robert not get a rope burn while "skiing" with the horses like that and not wearing gloves? I've gotten a rope burn from Panda once and that was when she decided to spin on a time and head a different direction. Normally it slides through my fingers/hand and doesn't cause a problem, except that particular day. I was wondering though with that horse pulling like it was if he got rope burned.
I missed out on how the last time ended up. Did they keep either of those, and are they planning to keep either of these?
I hope things go good for them. It seems like it'd be a lot of work, but a lot of reward too. :)

You only get rope burn if the rope moves through your hand. Robert has a death grip on it and just gets pulled along!! He thought about getting gloves but it was SOOOO hot that he didn't!

The results for the last event are:
Madi won fan favorite and placed 5th out of 40! She had a fantastic showing! Rain sold for 3200 I think and now lives in Colorado with a 3rd year vet student at CSU. They are getting along great!!!

Robert & Ruger placed 21st. Ruger sold for 2700 and is still in training with Robert. He is going to become a calvary horse in civil war reenactments. He will be wonderful at that. Really nice shooting horse

Day 2 pics!!! There are a ton so I'm going to put some up and give a link for the rest. . . Tennessee Mustang Makeover (http://www.flickr.com/photos/amyspivey/sets/72157624394655541/)

Robert's gelding, possibly named Rock'n Rolla. He is one of the bravest horses I've met! He just stood there as Robert tossed all his desensitizing stuff at him. . .Didn't even care when the saddle landed right next to him. Still isn't being touched much but it will only be a matter of time! His way is if it's scary he comes to investigate. Very rarely did he run from anything!

Not Spooky. .
__________________________________________________ _____________________________________

Madi's boy Eye Brow Cat, aka Wildcat. Wildcat is a lot more timid compared to Rock'n Rolla. But he did well with the desensitizing and Madi can touch him on his neck now! She's worked with Wildcat a bit more than Robert has his. He ran into the fence the first day so he scraped his head up. . . This guy is quick and a thinker! He's going to be an amazing horse too!

August 27 Update! Just for reference the contest in TN is October 23rd and onward I believe so they still have a little under 2 months.

Pics. . . from August 18th:

Rock'n'Rolla & Robert

Robert has ridden Rolla now, first time was a bit of a doozy. I've never seen a horse that bucks like he can. Even in Rodeos. He's quite a bronc. He is working in a team method right now of riding, where Robert has one of his assistants ride while he controls him on the ground. He's been doing better. He leads great and isn't afraid of people like Wildcat is. These horses are so funny cause they each have issues, neither of which are the same! Rock'n'rolla isn't brave under saddle yet, and Wildcat isn't brave out of a saddle.

Big boy tied to the trailer!!!

Wildcat is coming along! His biggest issue is fear of every human except Madi! lol. I got to lead him and pet him the other day out in pasture so he's coming along. . but it still takes a few minutes for him to go. ..oh yeah! You're not scary! And then I'm not ever really sure if he completely isn't scared, just tolerates it. Doing great under saddle though!! Check out his natural form! He's going to be an awesome horse when he's trained!

Before we get to recent photos, just wanted to post some updated training photos of Ruger! Remember Ruger from the last group of 'stangs for Colorado? He's still at Robert & Madi's and is doing fantastic!! His owner is coming to see him next month. Love this horse! lol

Yeah sorry I've been so lax getting photos up! They have about 24 more days until the TN competition. Both mustangs went to their first horse show last weekend and did great. I wasn't able to go with them and was bummed. They've been camping and on trails and are traveling around town in the trailer like seasoned show horses. They are both coming along nicely! I haven't started a thread about the newest mustang either. Madi was invited to compete in the Mustan Magic in Fort Worth in January so she has her magic horse in addition to her TN one. In fact the magic horse Optimus Prime had his first ride this week! I'll post more later when I'm not on my cell phone!
